BDR order

I ordered my new BDR 3 weeks weeks ago. I looked at ERA, FFR and Superformance before deciding on BDR. Its going to be a long 4 months waiting for it to come in! Very impressed with the car and the new improvements including the steel floors, revised suspension, coil overs and 8.8 inch ford differential. Best of all I can fit in it (with the recessed footwell )comfortably (knees not wedged under dash)! I'm going with craft FE stroker 427 with Pond aluminum block. I have a few upgrades like the radiator, rectangular rear SC brake lights, ceramic coated pipes (no heat shields), and a few items to make it look like an original cobra.

Good for you, Jelfert! What color combination?
Four months is perfect. You can hibernate for the winter and the car will show up just in time for the spring....sort of. Hahaha.

Congrats.

Congratulations and good luck with your purchase.

Congrats.

Solid color no stripes. black pipes, black wheels with unpainted spinner. Black interior. It will probably be March before I actually get it. I'll be at sea at work the whole month of February. Installer said I can come help install everything in the car so I'm looking forward to that.

Who's the builder?

jelfert 12-12-2020 06:00 AM

Radical Roadsters (James Yale) - Magnolia, tx

Build #2186. It will arrive at his shop in February. Engine will be done by Christmas. Pictures should be coming soon.

Unusual. I ordered mine that way, too. BDR told me it was the first car they've ever imported to the US with no stripes. Not sure if that's true or not. But that's what they said.

 you actually think your car is the first BDR without stripes?

bobcowan 12-12-2020 04:24 PM

I didn't say that. I said that's what they told me. :)

I suspect that the guy I was talking to believed it to be true. I don't think he lied. He probably never saw the other solid color cars come through.

There is an all black FFR car running around Orlando that the guy just completed and MAN it looks sharp. Congrats on your car!

There are quite a few without stripes.. mine (#888) included.

I am having my new Cobra built and having stripes painted on it. I recently sold my 67 GT500 Shelby that was built without the stripes and constantly was given crap about that. Not this time.

Shelby Mustangs normally had stripes, but Shelby Cobras never came with stripes.

That being said I cannot tell you how many Cobra owners tell me my car is missing its stripes...

So FIA cobras, USRRC cobras, daytona coupes, CSX3002, etc. did not have stripes?

It's a known fact that stripes make our cars faster.
