Fuel Line From Tank To Pump

Just an FYI if you start smelling a lite fuel smell and can not seem to locate Check your fuel line tank too pump mine has a slight leak would evap before i could see it , but the other day i was under the hood smelt it and started tinkering when i touched hose and it was wet --but not dripping . Of course not an issue ordered an an6 hose kit and am building new hose . This one was built in 2006 or 07 i think .

That is a common problem with braided hose. Use a quality hose with a teflon lining, and it probably won't happen again.

Three years ago I purchased a used Backdraft and noticed a much stronger gas smell in the garage vs. '69 Stingray. Could not locate a fuel leak in the Cobra and heard that braided line permeates the fuel spell so I lived with it. About 18 months ago, the Holley carb crapped out and had it rebuilt by DiVinci Carbs in Houston where I live. DiVinci told me that a bad carb will often stink up your garage. Got the rebuilt carb back and the smell now of fuel is about what it was with the '69 Stingray - almost nothing. So even though you do not see any carb fuel leak, maybe it could be your carb? How to believe but that fixed my fuel smell problem. From what I have been told too by someone very reputable, side exhaust will give off some fuel smell to on a Cobra because pipes are shot with big collectors. That is my two cents. Good luck.

Replaced mine with new fuel filter and fuel injection hose.

I went through the same thing. Car was 6 years old with very low mileage when I got it. Always had the gas smell. When I took the Holley apart, I could tell it had been modified. New 870 Holley and no more smell. The braided lines have a history of being problematic with leaking.

My superformance had a strong fuel smell when I got it- turned out the fuel level sender gasket had deteriorated to a crumbling nightmare.

I cut a new one out of sheet gasket, and glued it in, works good now. It had a visible drip line after refuelling before. I just traced it up.. and up.. to the sender unit.

My gasket was split around the fuel level sending unit in the tank on a new car. Replaced no further issues

The fuel line typically consists of rigid metal pipes, with flexible rubber or plastic hoses running from the pipes to the tank and the fuel pump , and from the pump to the carburettor .
