Default RT3 rear coilover conversion

I had posted a few pics in other threads but figured I would pull together all the info here in case anyone wants to do something like this in the future.

I started this process due to the fact that I had upgraded shocks to a set of custom double adjustable JRI shocks. There were sourced through one of the original founders of the shock company JJ Furillo who now has a speed shop ultimate Performance and works with lots of different race teams. This was the second car he had built these for and redesigned the front lower mount to hold a larger cartridge. Wont get into that here.

The rear shocks are JRI builder series, 15" extended length with a 4" stroke. Thes come with a fully threaded body and shipped as a coil over design. I originally was running a 600# spring in the stock location and a 350# front spring. That combination worked great.

I felt it would be nice to have the spring over the shock to potentially have better responsiveness to input from the wheel but mostly wanted the ease of being able to swap out springs whenever I wanted without it effecting alignment as it would with the stock spring location. Now I can just drop the shock without touching any of the suspension arms and make the changes I want.

Here is the shock and it test fit before the mounting modifications.

Here is the finished product, came out real nice and should be plenty strong. Top mount is welded to frame. Bottom mount is a bracket that is bolted through the spindle in two spots with the lower shock bolt being the third.
