Default Tail Lights

Tail lights on my BDR were changed prior to my purchase for inspection purposes. (red and red) Would like to change back to the original ones. (amber and red) Any suggestions ?
Are there part numbers available ?

That certainly looks like them. If I could get Boudy to verify that these lights are what BDR uses on their cars now because I don't want someone at a car show (with a BDR) telling me that they're the wrong ones.

true0007...the only one that will know is you and maybe some other bdr owner who then might think you are right and he is wrong...hey, these are replica's anyway, so do it your way. not too many that could claim they are 100% exact carbon copy of an original from the 60s. over time you will most likely end up like so many of us 'personalizing' your car to your tastes with custom add ons etc. enjoy the ride, and if something strikes your fancy, then put it on. the most important thing with tail lights/brake lights is to make sure they are the brightest you can get. too many of these rascals have lights so dim that they are hard to see by the person behind ya. that coupled with their relative small size and lack of a 3rd hightop light like on modern cars can be a concern. so more than what is right or not right ( or correct), the brighter the better . bill

true,,

What Bill says!!!
I did the same thing... I'm convinced I've got it right and someone else shows up with something a little different and I think I've got it wrong... and he's thinking he's wrong... It's a replica.

I couldn't agree more with everything that was said above, thats why I'm trying to put BDR lights back into my BDR. I really like their look. I didn't want to get similar ones and be dissapointed. (maybe I didn't state that right in my second post) Its what first caught my eye when I saw the car up close as opposed to an FFR or SPF.
Boudy has been very helpful in the past, hopefully he will be again.

this is my proposal for most originality (if desired):

Lights on S/C and early 427 (until CSX 3200?):
indicator front L539A winged (amber), rear rectangular L542
Lights on late 427:
Indicator front RB682, rear RB692 with RER31 reflector (lower = red)
Number plate lamp: L467

dom

hey, I must respond to something to get to 500 replies...;-)

Sorry for the delay guys. I'll get a part number for you. I'm out of town so I'll take care of it Monday.

Thanks,

Boudy

True 007,

I don't know if i would sweat the fact that your light lens may be different than another BDR.
I have #23 and when it came in at Tri State there were five other Backdrafts there. Some were like mine with amber turn signal front and rear. A few had amber rear and clear front. One had clear front with fins on the lens.

The bottom line is that out of the six cars there, none were exactly the same for various reasons. This may have changed in the last year or so and they now may all be standardized. Boundy could better answer that question.

Bill also has a good point about being seen. I had real concerns about that. I added a third brake light via a plate frame with an LED strip. It created a new problem by blocking the plate light, but if stopped i would sooner deal with that, than have someone hit me in the rear due to dim lights.

Our lenses are made for us exclusively for our cars. However, your car was prepped by Mike at Tri-States to pass inspection in NY. He may still have the origional lenses or he will have a part number for the ones that were installed. If that's the case, you will obtain an orange match from Finish Line or wherever Mike purchased them.

BTW: Our new cars no longer have red/amber. They are red/red in the rear with dual filiment headlights to comply with some states' DOT requirements.

Boudy
