HAS WORKED OUT REALLY WELL AND WILL BE DELIVERED TO ITS NEW EXPECTANT FATHER TO MORROW. I WILL SEE IF I CAN GET HIM TO POST A FEW WORDS ONCE HE GETS OVER HIS INITIAL EXCITMENT.:D TAKE CARE AND HAVE A GREAT COBRA DAY:D |
FE in BDR....

To further dispell the myth... we are doing an FE now. Just waiting on the 427 from Bill at Southern.
The headers sure look nice though :): http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/a.../abu.sized.jpg Gary, It may burn as much fuel as your Lincoln, but it's going to do a lot more with it all :) |
Gary,
What about all aluminum 427FE with TWM fuel injection. TKO 600, LSD 3.46, power steering, Brembo big brakes, humm, maybe I build that one myself.. |
The thing that almost everyone here has told me is that it is your car do what you want, its your dream. But I was looking at the roush engines w/fuel injection, I think it was the 427 w/ the webbers style efi and that was $21,000 from roush. A little pricy for me but looks really nice if you can afford it. The roush motors are also fully complete motors.

a thought for you...........
Gary......just a suggestion for you.........I have purchased and have in my builder's garage......a very nice motor from CHP , here in Calif. It is a 427w...550hp and 550 torq, has Mass Flow Injection, with polished show extra and with a 2 year guaranty.......total was $16k counting tax!! I can tell you this.........it is sweeeeeeeet!!! the reason I went this way was to keep a bit of weight down while still getting big bang, and power with an easier drivability........and (big point here) still keeps the look of the carb with air cleaner.....
Hope it helps.............. fred z.:MECOOL: |
fred z, Sounds nice, do you have any pics? I am leaning toward a Roush 402 IR but it is pretty priceeeeeeeeeee.
|
fred z. I am actually looking at that engine for my project. Pictures would be great but let me know how well it runs and if you had any problems with it, running or with install. thanks
|
motors.....
Gary......my build is a month away, but I have the confidence that these motors from CHP are of the highest quality, and my builder has used them many, many, times! He was the one that suggested me going there, and I have been n a car with their engines......very fast....and very nice sound! At $16k, which may be more than you need to go..........it is a steal , IMHO, compared to some.......now, remember, the Roush and Keith Craft, along with others, are very good as well, I just found these to be time tested here, and trust my builder very much! I wlll try to get you a pic........not in the car yet, but you can call me and I will get you their number and contact, if you wish.

402 Ir
Chubby2000, I just purchased backdraft #379 and had the Roush 402 IR installed. I'm going through the registration process in NJ right now and have not driven the car yet. The only thing I can tell you is, everytime I open the hood I can hear the breath exit the person's body as the say WOOOOHHH!
I will upload some photos next week for you to see or go to GCPC web site and you can see car there in the build stages. Sterling Grey w/ silver. |
Put whatever engine you like as long as it is 500hp or more. It appears you have deep pockets, go with the 427 FE.
|
The component by component comparision is what you must do to appreciate the actual value with the Roush. That and the true warranty behind it.
402IR would be a really fun project. What color are we talking? Still titanium? |
Jay, down to: sterling grey, silver,or titanium?????
|
Jay, you have a PM
|
I've got a favorite right now, I will send you a photo later. Don't know if you would be into the black sidepipes though.
|
cubby,
The silver with ghost is still my favorite even though it is gone. I did like the black with bronzemist as well. I'm trying something a little different with black, it should be an eye catcher. Bill |
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. Just in the process of ordering a silver BDR with 402R from Reg and Frank. Waiting for motor from roush to come in.I have sterling w/ silver reserved but could change to titaniumw/ black before the engine arrives.

342 roush
Hello all,
I have # 188 from vintage and it goes. Just had a state trooper try to race me this morning. I wish I could say I blew his doors off but held back. My wife still waiting with her frame for the first ticket. Not sure but when I dropped it into 3rd doing 65 and spun the tire alittle he smiled. If anyone has any questions on Roush products there worth the price. Every show is worth the price on just the looks you get. If I had to do it again I would go Roush. Shore cobra where you located? tom |
