Default Parking light fuse

The parking light fuse has blown 3 times in the last 500 miles in my BDR. I upped it to 20amp from 15 but it still goes. I suspect a wire somewhere but maybe some of you have has a similar experience and found something different. Any ideas?

Thanks

John

Parking light? You are out after dark?

I drove #139 after dark.

Once.

Our little cars are basically invisible. Dangerous.

My taillight assy's fail with great regularity, a light tap with the butt-end of my 5-cell Maglite usually brings them back to life. In my climate, vibration, humidity, the tiniest bit of corrosion knocks 12V to 0V.

Check for a tiny break/slit in the wiring where it rubs against... anything.

Good luck, Brudda.

Yup my BDR is almost considered as a daily driver. Take it to work almost every day. Out here we only get bad weather a few times a year. Unfortunately some clowns decided that they like this time change thing so it's dark in the fall and winter when I go home.

I guess I will spend some time over the break this week tracking down the short.

UT,

I had intermittent problems with my taillights when I first got my car (BDR #258). I found my problems were the really poor (cheesy) plastic lamp sockets. After careful scrutiny, I was able to bend the copper tabs inside so they made solid contact with the lamp. 6000 miles later no problems.

Good Luck,
Hank

Sorry John,

I just re-read your post. Blowing fuses would indicate a short somewhere. Is it something you can isolate by disconnecting all the sockets then seeing which one (if it's a socket) that blows the fuse?

Hank

I will give that a try. Hopefully I can make it fail that easily but it has been very intermittent so I suspect a wire that is loose and grounding out somewhere.

I needed DOT lenses from the start so I had them install a set of Factory Five lights (I could get the part # if you need it) From Day 1, I have not had a problem with loose bulbs or anything. In my opinion, its the way to go and they look great!!!

True007

Thanks, yes please give me the part number. There have been several posts about the sockets that I suspect that when I start investigating mine I will end up there as well.

Default Fixed It

Well I did not end up at the tail or signal lights at all. I found a cut in the wire going to the license plate light. It cut cut where it past through the license plate holder. There was no extra insulation for the sharp hole so I repaired the wire and added some.

So I will be driving home from work each night I can
