A special custom frame which I had no luck in finding after going to 6 auto parts stores should not be required to mount an item as simple as a licence plate or the liscense plate frame should be supplied with the car. If you view my photos it is shown how I had to modify the frame. You risk damaging the paint when mounting the screws from behind, when drilling the holes in the license plate holder higher, and posibly damaging the the licensce plate lights wiring. I spent no less than 6 hours modifying mine with the assistance of a die grinder and air compressor. If I would not have had blue painter tape and duck tape protecting the trunk I would have had a huge scratch when the dremel tool slid off the screws as I was cutting the screws so the threads would not protrude past the nut so I could mount the decorative nut caps. I guess for $28,900 I feel this should not be an issue. Maybe you do have to spend an extra 13k on a Superformance for this one difference. Different things are worth different amounts to different people.

Jay, Len did a custom mod on his plate holder that might work. You might not want to use his design in total, but it is an option.

I checked my files and I do not have any pics of the stainless tag brackets I have made. I use stainless 1" x 1" x 3/16" angle and flat stock. Sometime I polish them and some we have had a chrome shop to polish. The last one they wanted $90 to polish, we did it ourself. Some I have had to extent out from the body so it would clear the trunk handle. I like to keep them in close to the body if I can. I have to cut about an 1/8" off the bottom edge of the Alabama tags to get them to fit inside the Shebly tag bracket. I put a strip of foam rubber on the back of the tag to make sure it does not touch the paint. I will have to go to the shop and take a few pics of the two that are there and post them.

Dwight

See you in Ohio in June
