wheel lugs

I swear I just saw a posting regarding how short the lugs are that are provided with BDRs but I can't find it. My mechanic pointed this out to me just after I read it. Anyone remember that? More importantly anyone replace them with some that have some more area to them? anyone supplying them? I have an earlier car # 31..

I just replaced mine and they can be found at BimmerWorld.

Wheel Studs (For Use With Out Spacers) $2.00 each

Remove the old ones with two M12-1.5 nuts jambed together. Just add some red loctite and torque to 16 ft-lbs for the new ones.

Here is the post that Skip started and I added the lug issue to. Looks like Wayne has located the right ones. I think this does not exist on cars after mine.

When replacing the studs, are the old (original) lug nuts useable?

can you post the link to the thread you're referring to. And I have the M3 upgrade, can anyone confirm if these from bimmerworld will fit?

Sirreal,
If you are using the 12mm-1.50 long chrome acorn nut (1-3/8" length). It should fit with no problem. I just tried it in the garage tonight. I don't use the acorn nuts. I use the 12mm-1.5, 19mm lug nuts from BimmerWorld, because I am using the lug nut covers from Team III Wheels.

Just as a precaution to those doing any work on the rotors.
You might consider ordering extra rotor retaining screws for the brake rotors. I had a problem with some of them strippng the hex head in the screws, because of overtightening. One of them was so tight that I had to drill it out a bit and use a screw extractor from Snap-on. All of them looked like torx screws (overtightening), but were indeed hex. When installing them, they only need 12 ft-lbs of torque with no loctite.
