BDR 261 For Sale
I put my Backdraft Roadster up for sale today for $40,500.00. I would like to know if I have it priced right to generate a fast sale , as I am ready to purchase another BDR. I have all the standard BDR equipt. plus heater/17" wheels/oil cooler/ tonneau cover and full car cover. Would just like to know what others are actually selling for. Thanks, Snakester

That I believe is a fair price. How are you registered? What year on the title? How many miles? Who built the motor and completed the car?
Best of luck with it. |
I guess it depends on how you figure your costs
New Backdraft rolling chassis: $28,900 392 FMS Stroker $7400 at Scoggin Dickey trans, clutch $ 2500-3000 depending on exactly what you use. (scattersheld, tko 600, double disc clutch, you can get away with $2500 and a week end to drop the engine in and sort it out. Total $ $39,300, add your extras and that is what a do it yourselfer can put together a new car. I think the backdraft pricng on the 17" wheel package is confusing. If you buy 15' wheels on the aftermarket or 17' wheels , they are about the same price. Backdraft markets them as an upgrade, I personally don't thnk that is right, but just my $0.02 from someone who is not authorized to throw out the trash. I would think Backdraft would have more respect for their clientel, but again just my thoughts. I could be wrong |
nice car but unique, no stripe and no traditional cobra rims. If you find the person that wants your combination it will sell over night, if someone has to make the way they want then hwood has the right idea. I am always bewildered when people ask 45K plus for a car you can build new of 40K but there is someone out their who will pay it. I know when I sold mine I was shocked at the ignorance most buyer had, none asked what chassis number, you have to assume the newer the chassis the more factory improvement had been implemented. I think your price is right. You want to sell fast list for 39500.

Snakester,
Your price sounds very fair to me. Hwoods has missed out on some costs like: Freight from Florida, all you options as listed, plus some I see on your car not listed. If you buy from a dealer, he may just want to make a profit (imagine that!) so the cost of a new one equipped like yours could be $45K+ SkipB |
Last year I saw a new BDR/Roush 408 with a price of $48K. I know I put a ton of odds and ends into mine and I have an SB 100 registration. I think $40k is reasonable.

Quick search on here for SB100 will provide days of reading material. |
Snakester, I think you are right on the money at $40k. What some of the others seems to forget are all the minor things that add up.
Yes, motor $7500, Tranny, clutch, flywheel around $2800. Right there you are already over $40k (28,900+1700+7500+2800). Then you gotta add pulleys, starter, air cleaner, fuel pump, MSD, Coil, belts, hoses, miscellaneous nuts and bolts, and many other minor parts to get her done, at least another $1000 minimum. Then you got to get it all installed, dialed in, fluids added, and an alignment. I have seen very few people get a BDR done for under $39K unless they used their own powerplant. Just my 2 cents... Best of luck and I hope you get every penny you deserve... James |
Fair price.
I would have bought it from you in Dec. if you had answered my PM. :p Beautiful car, someone should jump on it quick. Good luck! :) |
Can you provide more details on the car.

More details ...BDR261
Hey StarsFan, Thanks for asking. I purchased this car from Reg @ Custom Cars in Sept. 05. complete as shown in my pic's. It has all the standard Backdraft equiptment, plus I added the 17" wheels and Nitto tires/tonneau cover/Raydot mirrors/Chrome fire ext./full car cover/oil cooler w/remote oil filter/Chrome 105 amp altenator/Hurst Shifter. The car is powered by a 392/430/450 w/750 Holley...4500 miles. In excellent condition and always garaged. I really like this car and have had no issues and it seems to run better , the more it is driven. I am only selling so I can purchase another BDR with other equip. Thanks , Snakester

Backdraft's for sale???
I would like to know if any other BDR's are getting sold ...this should be a good time of the year....Maybe at what price....I have had over 100 emails...1000's of ?'s and showed the car about 15 times...had several interesting offers and a few not so interesting offers. I am just thinking outloud here and would be interested in hearing other opinions...Thanks !

Snakester,
Where else do you have it listed for sale? You might want to expand your viewing audience and put it on several websites. I think the price is more than fair. The right person just hasn't come along yet. If the car has an SB100 exemption, that should make it worth more to any California buyer assuming it would still apply. I am not sure if it still does after it leaves the state. SkipB |
Snakester, I sold my Backdraft a month ago. Same asking price as yours. Put it only on the Club Cobra for sale section on a Sunday evening and had an offer within 2 hours and sold it to that person by Tuesday. Mine was red with no stripes and apparently just what the buyer was looking for. Don't get discouraged someone will find your BDR is just what they are looking for.

I would assume the car for sale is registered in Virginia. If so, what does the Calif SB100 number have to do with this car? I was under the impression that once the car leaves Calif the SB100 number is null and void and must be reapplied for?
