Bdr Gt

Anybody know what is going on with the latest at BDR?

New roadster pricing
Possible new rear drivetrain for roadster
GT40 pictures in the progress gallery, but no info

They had a GT-40 at the London show, never spoke with them specifically, but the GT-40 looked good. I think the show special was around $115,000.

Bdr Gt

I stopped in Boynton Beach recently while on business in S/Fl. Frank gave me the tour of the shop which included three beautiful GT's. Pictures don't do them justice. You can figure right around 100k finished with A/C. The attention to detail is up to the usual Backdraft standards. If you go on Backdraft Boys, the red one is finished and for sale, there is a blue one and one in Gulf colors.

Jeff,

I talked to the guys at LCS.

CAV is making them/the new CAV.

Nice looking car. I can send you a pic or two.

jeffko 06-26-2008 08:36 PM

CAV making the GT40 for BDR is interesting. I wonder what the story is?

ENTDOC 06-26-2008 09:21 PM

BDR just outsourced the job to CAV and had them change a few details, much like Superformance building CSX cars ect.. BDR is not looking for high volume so to start from scratch would make no sense.

Got the Bug 06-26-2008 09:29 PM

ENTDOC - Is the BDR more of a turnkey-minus deal where the CAV requires some assembly/fabrication?

Jeffko - Here's another thread with some pics of the BDR http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/backdraft-racing/88192-estimated-cost-new-bdrgt.html

ENTDOC 06-27-2008 06:24 AM

CAV apparently has the option of putting some of the components together but most, like the BDR version, are turn key minus.

Doug I 06-27-2008 07:02 AM

and there are some options and details that CAV are only doing for the BDR GT's.

Glad to see it appears at a glance they decided not to stretch the wheelbase and "re-interpret" the lines and shape of the original car this time. The front air dam (damn!?) is interesting and not aesthetically unpleasant. Some will hope it is optional or removable.

Got the Bug 06-27-2008 10:22 AM

Looks awesome!!! The pics really show how open the cockpit is. I haven't sat in one yet, but I can see how the height of the dash console would accomodate taller folks.

Just need to scrounge up a $100K.

Buzz 06-27-2008 10:40 AM

Doug - does that mean the car is stretched? Doesn't appear so in the pics...

Doug I 06-27-2008 10:53 AM

nooooooooooooo

as far as I know the dimensions are unchanged

Blittleton 06-27-2008 11:06 AM

No the car isn't stretched, and the pedals are adjustable to accomidate a taller person. There is room in there for me I'm 6'3" and I fit.

Bill

Doug I 06-27-2008 11:11 AM

Hey Bill - go tell Dave, he's curious to know if he'll fit :3DSMILE::LOL:;)

jeffko 06-27-2008 11:36 AM

Great pics Bill...thanks.

Does anyone have an opinion of how the Cav stacks up to RCR? Cost, product and required assembly. RCR offers an aluminum frame (instead of stainless) as a roller that lists out pretty complete for $42k but I'm sure I don't fully understand it yet.

By the way, did you bring that supercharged drink machine?

Blittleton 06-27-2008 11:43 AM

Jeff, I won't touch that one here on the forums. Yes we did bring the Hooch machine, but no very many takers. We made frozen margeritas and venum which is mt dew with bourbon frozen. Last day we made frozen screwdrivers. We were very lonely out at the grassy area. Some people stopped in. What do you think of Buddy's Lone Star, Could you pack anymore hp in there!!!

Bill

The SPF dash is much lower, which wouldn't allow me to get into a comfortable driving postion. The first thing I noticed when I got into the SPF, was that pedals seemed to be tucked way down in the footwell.

The BDR dash looks like it allows some room to bend the knees, which probably helps taller drivers a bit.

I'd really like to sit in a BDR or CAV one of these days.
