figured out my little stutter

I was having a small issue with my first gear pulls and would see misfires and erratic needle swings on my tach gauge. This usually signifies something with the MSD setup and started with the distributor cab. As I pulled off the plugs, this is what I found ( position for cylinder 5 ):


Taking a wire brush, I cleaned it up and the inner contacts as well. Put it back together and fired it up and damn, it runs smoother now.

Did the wire connector seem loose when on the cap? Looks like oxidation.

I guess a little dielectrical grease wouldn't hurt....however:
"It is important to note that dielectric grease will melt silicone rubber over time, and thus should not be used on connectors, such as o-rings, that are made of this rubber."

if you do use dielectric grease, be careful NOT to let it get on the metal. It will not conduct electricity.
