Superformance Cobra now the MKIII

Which cars are the MKI and MkII?

Stan

BO DUTCH 07-18-2002 01:19 PM

STAN.

Those may have been the first 2 prototypes from years past.

May give SPF a call and get the streight skinny on it !!!

mikiec 07-18-2002 01:46 PM

I wonder if the name change has anything to do with the lawsuit?

Mike

Great Asp 07-18-2002 02:22 PM

wink wink

AC cars has a Mark III!

Eric

BO DUTCH 07-18-2002 05:23 PM

MIKIE,

I don't know for sure but it's most likley got something to do with it. Putting a little distance between the Cobra name and SPF.

Eric,

Are AC bodies made in the UK still or they being made out of country ? Could be, maybe in SA ? Where the other Mk III's
come from ? I dono !!!!!
Maybe some experts out there could shed some light or thunder on the question at hand.

Dan Semko 07-18-2002 09:15 PM

Missing THE Mark!

I think that most have "under-estimated" the foresight of The Superformance founders and their "greater" future visions. Consider this, is there ANY replica manufacturer with a greater presence at any major automotive events or ANY manufacturer that has a better advertising campaign? These folks have thoroughly done their homework and what we're seeing is ONLY the tip of the iceburg. ;)

BO DUTCH 07-18-2002 09:23 PM

Dan,

Your Right ---- But, could you be a "little" more specific, without
having to kill me afterwards !! Or is it too much of a Hush-Hush
nature?

Looking for enlightment,

ACECA 07-19-2002 02:31 AM

This might have something to do with AC's speculated deal to export MkIII aluminium Cobras from the UK to the US. Nothing definite reported yet, however.

sambrozy 07-19-2002 11:51 AM

Interesting......very interesting.

Stan

sambrozy 07-19-2002 11:56 AM

I thought the AC MkIV was the cobra model. You can find them priced around $50K.

Dan Semko 07-19-2002 08:14 PM

Bo,
I'm sworn to secrecy BUT you are definitely on the right path. If you closely examine the badges and new "MARKings" :D on the Superformances you'll be closer than any available "original".
What's in store will make Evan Harris weep loudly at night, bring bigger smiles than ever experienced by ANY Cobra owners and will make some alloy manufacturers rather uncomfortable. Let me put it diplomatically: the new boy on the block will raise the bar higher than any of us ever anticipated.....and best yet, we'll be able to "authentically" afford purchasing a much better "mouse trap"!;) than the original.
Now if I tell you more, I'll have to seek refuge in the witness protection program!

Tom-In-Ohio 07-19-2002 08:35 PM

Let's Add A Little More Icing To The Cake !!!

Let me add a little more "food for thought" to Dan Semko's post.

I may be wrong, but I believe the "original" 427 S/C's were Mark III's. HINT...HINT WINK...WINK

Think about it !!!

G.R. 07-19-2002 08:40 PM

That's all well and good--But when is the "coupe" due out?

Dan Semko 07-19-2002 08:51 PM

G.R.
It will be on the floor by the end of September from what we've been told, but it is only a teaser. Wait until they reveal what is "REALly" coming. They've raised the bar from the gold to PLATINUM standard and will be establishing a whole new market.
I never understood why the South Africans always said that they were always on "The Mark". The lesson learned is NEVER under-estimate your opponent, sometimes loosing a small battle preceeds winning the war.

jensen 07-21-2002 01:03 PM

Dan

Are AC Cars going to be involved?

BO DUTCH 07-21-2002 01:37 PM

Dan,

Was at SPF the other day, (Reno) Ahh, your right !!!
But, don't tell anyone.
What they have "now", is really impressive, don't know if
I can wait til the "PLATINUM" arrives !!! :) We'll see !!
More than likely, I'll wet my pants waiting !!!!!

sambrozy 07-22-2002 10:46 AM

So how will SPF actions help us who currently own one of their toys?

Stan

Dan Semko 07-23-2002 01:51 PM

Sure!

The relationship between Superformance and AC has been solid for some time. Superformance has the licensing rights to use the AC and Mark logos, which are the original names on their cars. I believe that their relationship will be further enhanced and come to "American fruition" within the next year. Historically we know that the origin of the cobra was with AC and modified/adapted by Carroll Shelby for the United States. Does AC still produce the original version and will it be available under a joint venture within the continental United States? I believe that it all depends on the final outcome of the SAI-SPF lawsuit, which is soon to be resolved. I will say this, IF they are made available, my brother and I will become their strongest campaigners within the automotive internet communities as well as very visible at the mid-western automotive events that we attend.

Great Asp 07-23-2002 03:34 PM

Quote "IF they are made available, my brother and I will become their strongest campaigners"

Dan, I'll wrestle ya for the title in a cage match!

Eric

Dan Semko 07-23-2002 04:10 PM

You're On!

Eric,
The best out of two falls! In my corner will be Ron and Dean Rosen with coaching from Ronnie Kruger! The FULL South African compliment and probably that crazy Armenian lawyer Jamo just in case!:D
