We all have to remove our Cobra emblems
I have been reading this in SCOF I may have not read the initial discussion. Any info? What about the new 2005 Cobra?

Even if the replica manufacturers conceed to stop putting "cobra" badges on their products, I will feel free to put any damn emblem I want on my car.

Take the Cobra emblems off my car? Excuse me... That's better.

For any lawsuit that want me to take them off, come 'n get 'em off if you're so inclined.

Actually Volkswagen (owner of SIAT) is perhaps one of the most diligent protectors of its images and trademarks. Having copyrighted its usual corporate logos, they also copied terms like "bug", "buggy", "beetle", "type I" and its general shape. They have a hired gun company going after ALL interlopers including enthusists web sites forcing them to pay up for past use and stop future use. They even ban the use of the word Volkswagen.Soon it will known as "the car formerly known as ----------"
This despite the fact that they haven't sold a bug here in 23 years.

 Rick====
All joking aside if Ford-Shelby et.al had been diligent in protecting their trademark from day one
there woudn't be a replica-counterfeit industry. How many Ferrari replicas do you see?

My cobra won't have any badges....
Just a small custom silver paint logo in the same place.

I have always felt that Shelby would win the Cobra and 427sc badge portion of his suit. But now I've learned the AC originally expected Shelby to promote the cars as AC Cobras not Shelby Cobras. |

Under Federal law the courts will only enforce trademark rights where the party attempting to prosecute has been diligent in enforcing its rights against infringements on a consistent basis (witness the $millions spent every year by companies like Harley Davidson and Disney to put counterfeiters out of business)Shelby American has been anything but diligent and doesn't stand a chance, in my humble opinion...

As a private owner you can buy any licensed logo or emblem you want and stick it wherever you want. Literally. As long as you own what your sticking it on.

 Update
I seems that Hi-Tech (Superformance) is now the US importer for the AC alloy-bodied Mark III.

Stan,Much of your information is confidential and should be posted with discretion. I'm not advocating censorship but the information could place many friends in a very awkward position. I realize your enthusiasm to share with other cobraphiles is overwhelming at times but remember there are MANY internet lurkers that view specialty sites to gain information for various reasons including litigation.

 Dan,
Here again, you may have to spell it out for Stan, that he has the option to "EDIT" his thread. He can re-post at a later date when
and if it is something more than hearsay !!!!
