Spinner Removal Tool
 

I will have (4) tools at Athens on Sat if anyone wants one. $60 bones. The paint will be better than the proto. Second batch will come in a few weeks.

I have an ERA with Trigo knock offs. Is there someone in your crowd with Trigo's, that would let you check suitability? I would imagine the wheels/spinner and not the replica make is the important factor no?

I have tried a few spinner removal tools in the past, none worked well. They all dinged up the spinner pretty badly, you need a monster impact wrench or a really long breaker bar to generate the same force that the smack of a hammer gives. Got any pictures?

Is this the same design as the one Rick 427 made a proto type ( I believe that it is)?

If so I can vouch that this is design that works. You are going to get some marks on your spinners no matter what.

The options are:

1) use only a hammer and risk flattening out your spinners on the rear (which I have done)

2) Try one of the "other" tools which don't lock into the hub and risk slipping and damaging your rim and spinner

3) Use this tool and MAYBE get a few minor marks on the edge ( my spinners were GALLED solid and I see only very minor marks)

4) Sell your spinners and get bolt-ons

This is the design from Rick 427, we worked to lower the weight from 19 lbs. to 13 lbs. This tool could cause some minor dings but far less than using a hammer directly on the spinner. It is made with A-36 steel and seal welded with 7018 so you can beat it to hell and leave the rims protected with some minor marks on the spinners. Hey what can I say, if you have to remove a stuck spinner Rick has the solution. Photos will have to be next week as my camera is at a jobsite.

I have never dinged a spinner with a lead hammer, the lead is too soft to make any dings. Except when you miss and hit the fender. I have had to beat on a spinner so hard, I ended up breaking off one of the ears, then the next ear, then the last ear, and then surgery got started on removing the remant. More power to you if the tool works as well as a hammer, but that thing has got ot leave scars on the aluminum spinners. Not the thing to do a a customer's freshly polished spinners.

This tool was used to help me remove my stuck spinner, I was not about to ding the rim or hit the car with a backlash blow (both very important to me). So it worked great with a little mark on the spinner, and I was able to buff this out. The tool makes contact with all three spinners so the force is spread out. Just an option that I feel helps people out.

Hello All,

I've wrestled with stuck spinners on many cars, bought expensive $275 Aluminum billet tool (Looked Great but...did not work), lead hammers and looked at all of the permutations of a spinner tool there have come my way over the last tens years.

This design came form Rick427 and Alan has been good enough to refine and use the facilities of his crane building business to manufacture this hand held very effective tool. I don't know what the revenue sharing agreement is between Rick and Alan and I probably do not want to know.

Pop out the center button (held in by O-rings) stick the shaft in, slide the slots over all three of the ears of the spinner , hold the shaft and tap the spinner off with a hammer on the long ears at the rear of the tool well outside the fender well and that delicate fiberglass or aluminum.

It does leave a small dent at the bottom of the ear....You can see it if you bend over and look close. It does tighten the ear on better than using a lead hammer since you can gauge how much pressure you are putting on the spinner and you can remove the spinner after it has run on the car for some time and galled itself in place. BTW I have used this tool on SPF, Trigo on Unique, Arntz and Contemporary cars.

I used Rick427 's tool and bought one of Alan's for my garage....I let my opinion be expressed with my pocket book. With this tool you won't bend or break the ears...you will get them on tight and you will get them off when you want to.

Allan brought one over to my house and we tried it on the Trigo ears. It fits just fine.

Allan can drop it at my place and you can come pick it up from me.
It is about time you came and paid a visit to the allmight Aluminum anyway.

Actually Allan is scheduled to be here this weekend to pick up a TV set, maybe you can meet him and kill two birds with one stone. Actually three. We need some help loading a 36" Sony into his truck.
