Greetings Fellow BAAC - A - Laurie - Ates...
The date for the Police Track event is ... December 13, 2003.
Amazingly, even though I pointed out the many Captains of Industry and all the around swell guys in the group, this was the only open date this year.....
Now THINK before you reply to me as all of the jealous kids in the rest of the country can't do this , so
NO WHINING ABOUT POTENTIAL RAIN!
I have heard that it actually rains more frequently than once every 6 months in other parts of the country, although I have no personal experience with it. I have also heard (and this seems far-fetched) that they actually drive their cars in the rain (water that falls - apparently all on its own - from the SKY! Not only that but it's domestic and not from France like normal water and not carbonated either!) and that they use something called a top? I have no idea what a top is ,so please don't ask here.. let's start a new thread for that.... maybe we could form a committee to scale the Sierras and see if the people in Nevada know what it is???
In any event it will be in December and I need to know more or less who is interested so that I can compute some sort of cost involved. The track is $500-, figure maybe 10 bucks for a nice lunch of either sandwiches from a deli or Pizzas from the new gourmet Pizza place or whatever... We have the track for 8 hours during which we can do a fun auto cross and some drag racing and maybe a "Let the other half drive" event... We have 5 acres of unimpeded asphalt to play upon....
Show of hands please!
As always ,it is not necessary for those in the rest of the country who have meaningless lives to reply and/or take over this thread... only those of you that either wish to attend or not and are close enough to come for the day need to reply. Certainly we will welcome anyone from LA , San Diego , Shasta, Portland (maybe they know what a top is?) or other iron constitution types from farther afield who wish to come.
The plan will be to meet at Athens for our usual first class repast and then on to the track. It should take almost 8 minutes to get over there so you might want to fill up on the way. I expect that we will have had enough long before they point out that it is over, so everyone will have ample opportunity to use up their brake pads....
I think that we can hanle the whole group here, so come and join the fun! I will arrange for some coaches (read endurance road racer pilotes du piste who want a free lunch) so that everyone can have the maximum enjoyment from the day!
