Body/Paint/Fiberglass Man Needed
Hey guys,
I'm in need of a fiberglass/body/paint guy that wants to turn this:
http://www.racesystems.com/cobra/bodyoff4.jpg
Into a piece of art and this needs to happen soon.
I need the side-markers filled (someone started, but didn't finish), fender trim work, doors/trunk/hood fitted, hinges installed, and the whole thing painted. I may also modify the hood for an unnatural induction scoop; TBD in the next 10 days.
I'm looking for referrals. Can anyone make a recommendation?

I don't know why you need paint, it's just going to peel off anyhow
When it's done I will have to give up my throne as Mr. Horse Power to you.

Fear not!
If this thing makes the power I think it will, your throne will be restored shortly after it explodes. By the way, yes I have a 1" ding ding. Compensation is necessary.

Byron,
Not sure of your budget, but hands down I would suggest Ken "Street Rod Painter" Pike. He is in Yuba city and has painted close to, if not more, than 100 cobras. He painted mine.

Byron,
Go ahead and leave the doors off. It kinda looks like a Willys jeep
without them.
Besides, it makes it easier for guys our size to get in and out
Also, no one could say they blew your doors off, even though the chances of that happening should be as dim as Joe Clou.... oh,
never mind.

Jeff Miller, of Miller Customs ( http://www.millercustoms.com/index.htm) is another master painter. He does all the hood, door and trunk work hinges etc then paints.
He does excellent work - took several awards at the recent FFR Nationals and several of his paintjobs were on "best in show cars"

Does anyone know of an equivalently skilled paint/body man in the Bay Area? The referrals here look awesome, but Yuba City and Temecula are a little far away. Looking for something preferably on the Peninsula betwenn San Francisco and San Jose.

People will send their bodies to Jeff from several states away because of the quality of his work.

I had a local shop paint my car. Bill Miller @ Livermore Collision. He did the car on-time (6-weeks) and he's an experianced fibreglass repairman. I'm happy with the job he did for me. He is not the cheapest but then he is not the most expensive (pretty much in the middle of the estimates I got). Ken (Street Rod Painter) does a very nice job from what I've seen and is less expensive. The down side that I have seen is that it is a bit of a trek up to his place and being so popular it seems that he does get backed up and his schedules can slip out quite a bit at times. Toy Works in Concord is another shop folks have been happy with but they can be on the high side in price. Bill Emerson up in Redding has a pretty good shop that does work for him as well. It all comes down to your budget, schedule, expectation and what needs to be done. You do get what you pay for and your going to have to live with your decission.
good luck,
Mike
