The light at the end of the tunnel...
...is NOT a freight train. YAHOO!!!
It's official - the DMV (Phyllis L.) told me this morning, "Your car will be titled as Specially Constructed." In fact, my car is one of 15 recently approved to be titled. Details to come as I receive them, but regardless, I'm thrilled! Happy Motoring, Randy R... |
I thought I heard something ........ click. I heard it again. Congratulations Randy. We now know for sure that it's whom you know.

Damn!
I was hoping to be able to build you a NEW car:D :D :D It's about time you got some good news this year. What's up with the Bullitt? --Mike |
CSAA considered the Bullitt a total loss. They gave me a check for higher than KBB High value, added Sales Tax, and 6 month registration, and waved my deductable. Very fair for a total loss.
In the meantime, my lawyer is in communication with the at fault driver's insurance for all of the parts/add-ons that CSAA wouldn't re-imburse me, as well as medical and P&S... BTW, I could use a buyer for my Trigos - I need the cash to help "bail" my SPF out with the DMV :D |
CONGRATs Randy!!!!!!!!
It's about time DMV got this straightened out for you. Glad to hear you'll be driving a Cobra to Snakes instead of the Beem'r. Mike |
Thanks Mike.
One step at time... One of the things I've learned over the past 5 months is that the wheels of governmental progress turn verrrry slowly. Sure it would be great to be driving my Cobra to Snakes, but I'm not holding my breath, if ya know what I mean... Thanks, Randy R... |
Couple of questions come to mind.
If DMV is issuing 15 Specially Constructed Car designations to your car and others in the same boat, I wonder if next year there will be only 485 to go around. Second qustion, what would happen if my car was totalled and I replaced it with an identical car with the insurance money, Would I have to burry my now totalled SB-100 number along with the car and apply for a new one the next year? Questions...Questions... I wish I only had answers.. |
1. I don't have the details about the 15 WRT sequence numbers. Yes, it could be that these 15 come from the 100 or so sequence numbers that the DMV reserves each year for corrections.
2. New car = new vin. New VIN = new sequence number. Or am I missing something here... |
Not really, you are not missing anything.
Since each new car comes with a new VIN number I can see why that would follow that logic. Except our cars DON'T come with a VIN. We apply for them. Since they are rationed , I kind a wondered why not allow the owner use the same number on the replacement vehicle? The car is totalled, not all the red tape the owner went to get a special construction number. I can see paying the fees and taxes all over again, but why waste a perfectly good SB-100 number because the car is totalled. The VIN numbers are plentiful, there is no quota on them....that is what I was thinking about. |

That is great Randy, maybe by the time your able to drive the cobra I'll come to breakfast!
|
Turk, Bullit was Randy's Mustang that was totalled, not his Cobra.
Randy, Congratulations on the DMV news and the insurance settlement. Are you still using the neck brace and the wheel chair? Don't stop until you get the check for pain and suffering! |

Thanks Duane. My lifestyle has changed since I bought my Bullitt, so another Mustang was not an option for replacing my Bullitt. I'm now the proud owner of an '03 325i Sedan :D
I wish your friend much luck in selling his Bullitt. Regards, Randy R... |
Randy.......
Awesome news! Hope I'm right behind you with a call soon. - Bill - |
Randy Rosenberg,
Good for you on title grant. Where is this Phyllis L. located, Sacramento? I have also been granted title but by MRS. Tremble of Scaramento main DMV Office. Do you have to get a 3 year Bond for your Cobra? I am interested in your Trigo's with slicks. Have you had your Cobra on 1/4 mile run? GWC |
You've got mail!

Randy,
Fantastic, It was sounding really good when you said hi to Fitz at the last breakfast. Great news. |
Congratulations Randy! I know this has been a long, frustrating, maddening ordeal. Your patience and persistance has paid off and I'm sure you experience will help others. Can't wait to see you roll-up in your Cobra at breakfast!
