End of Summer Run - 2007 - first announcement
We are in the final stages of planning the Third Annual End of Summer Run to be held on Saturday September 15th. This year we are again cruising the highways and byways of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. All plans are subject to change (our lawyers made me say this  ).
Back by polular demand, we will again be meeting for breakfast at Alice's Restaurant by 8:30 AM (East Bay folks may want to meet and depart from the Rock House by 7:30). You will recall that they have indoor and outdoor dining. We will then head south along Highway 35 and after some twisting and turning end up in Scotts Valley at Canepa Design (www.canepa.com) where we will be given a tour of this outstanding facility. Please look at their website to see all that they do and a peek at their museum. The tour will last between 1.5 and 2 hours depending on questions asked and numbers in our group. If we have enough people, they will divide us into two groups. Canepa has hosted numerous similar events for other car clubs and they have always been a great success. Upon completion of the tour, we will head down the street to a restaurant for lunch. This will be a simple lunch with a very limited menu, which we might be able to expand if our numbers increase. They will be open just for our group and we will need to achieve a minimum number of diners - which based on history, should not be a problem. This will be the completion of the organized EOSR (around 2 PM), however there are many choices of roads home from Scotts Valley, including going to Santa Cruz or even down to Monterey/Carmel for dinner or overnight, or alternatively Highway 17 back to San Jose and points north and east or even Highway One north to Half Moon Bay. This date was selected because it does not conflict with Labor Day or Mini-Nats and is still two weeks before Snakes. The EOSR is meant to be that enjoyable drive you wanted to take all Summer but never had the chance/time or opportunity to round up a bunch of Snakes to do it. Co-pilots are absolutely welcome and encouraged. It is a good low key, close-by alternative to Snakes or better yet, a warm up. As we get closer, we will need a firm head count both for Canepa as well as the restaurant. In the meantime, please let us know if you really think you can make it. We understand that plans are always subject to change, but this will give us a good start. The Tom's (B. & H.) :MECOOL: |
look like a good event to gather all cobra folks together, I will joint for sure unless my wife have different plan.
Tan |
Sounds like fun. Kimberly and I will be there.
Chris |
I'm in for sure......it's in my backyard:) .
|
You can count Danette and I in. If anyone takes 17 back, be careful not to speed over the hill.
Scott |
With all those fine, little, twisty roads throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains, Scott, why would anyone want to take 17? :p The beast should be running by then, so sign me up. For two, if I get lucky. Rich
|
I'm in. Solo or with my buddy; don't think the wife will be interested at old race cars! :D
17 is boring; take skyline to Big Basin and head into Los Gatos, or if you're really brave, take Page Mill Road down from 35. |
Andrea and I are a "maybe". Depends on if I'm working or not. Mark
|
If it's on a Saturday then Debbie and I are in. Where do I sign my life away???-John
|
John - no need to sign your life away - just trying to get an initial head count so I can advise Canepa and the restaurant.
Keep checking back here from time to time to see if we have any updates but the plans appear pretty well set. Tom |
Hey Tom,
Thanks for planning this. Assuming Roush ever bothers to rebuild my motor I'll be in. Not sure yet if Marlene will join me or not. Daryl |
Tom - I plan on attending...if the Peoples Republic of California issues me another TOP  .
|
Tom, if I don't have my Cobra yet can I bring my GT350? When is Snakes??
|
While this is a Club Cobra event and thus caters to Cobras, I suppose a GT 350 would be OK but hopefully your Cobra will be done in time. To be honest, since a friend brought his Testa Rosa last year to the winery, I guess the precedent has been set for alternate cars, although it is really more fun to just have Cobras. I believe Stan may have brought his GT 350 to the first EOSR.
According to BACCevents.com, Snakes is tenatively set for 9/28-9/30. |
I wouldn't miss it. Karen and I are in!
|
Maria and I hope to join in?
Mike |
Add 2 more to the list.
|
Eosr
Eleanor and I are in.
|
Laurie and I are also planning on attending. If anyone from San Jose wants to meet at the Kooser Starbucks, we should meet about 7:30 and leave about 7:45.
Dave V |
Danette and I will meet over there you guys over there.
