tank tour in portola valley

ok, here's the deal. another club i belong to here in fremont is a group called "the classic cruisers". they are having a run to the military vehicles museum in portola valley on march 28, 2009. they have allowed me to invite 20 people from the bacc to come along. i need to know who would be interested. 1 catch though............................................ ...you gotta drive your cobra or hot rod. but i think thats a condition we can all live with. more info will given as we get a head count. so.......................who's going?**)

I have been there 3 times and it is like Disnyland for adults. The collection is mind boggling.
Is the tank collection still open? Jacques Littlefield passed away in January and I was wondering if they were still going to let people come up and see the collection. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BAHA157UND.DTL
If it is still availbale you HAVE to go, you will never forget it.

dave, for you, since your cobra is one of my favorites, your Z06 is more than eligable.

csx wnab 03-15-2009 08:27 PM

Jeff,

Count me in for the tour!

Paul F 03-15-2009 10:12 PM

I've not been to any of the east bay or southbay breakfasts or lunches, so I don't really qualify. But I'd like to join if there is room after the regular BACC folks get a chance to say yes/no.

I have had the privilege to see the Littlefield collection a few times with my son's Boy Scout troop and once with a British car club. I would highly recommend it to anyone with interest in things that are mechanical. Aside from tanks, there are other types of vehicles as well, along with a propeller from the Lusitania! While the Patton Museum at Fort Knox Kentucky is quite good, the Littlefield collection is beyond compare. What the Harrah's Automobile Collection was to cars, the Littlefeiled collection is to Tanks.

solorolla, no.2 doug, got the bug, no.3. now i should probably mention that we might want to keep this list on a personel type. meaning 20 people. not 20 cars. so i will be accepting only 10 entries because i am sure that most will have someone riding shotgun. i have six spots open.my friend tim with the trumpet, you know, the tall guy. i am saving you a spot so get back to me ok? first come first served. thanks

RodKnock 03-15-2009 10:53 PM

May I ask what time is this going down?

csx wnab 03-15-2009 10:56 PM

the letter i have says 1pm. then i "heard" 10am. so i'll get back on that as soon as i get a definate.

csx wnab 03-15-2009 11:05 PM

we meet at a spot in newark, the orchard supply, next to safeway. off the ardenwood exit on hwy.84.east-bound just before 880. but let me make sure on time and meet spot. then we caravan to museum.

RodKnock 03-15-2009 11:18 PM

I would be very interested depending on time, but will defer to those that can commit 100%.

tkb289 03-15-2009 11:20 PM

Jeff,

Thanks for saving me a spot! On this go around, I'll take a pass and make room for someone else. Thanks for putting this together!

Jeff,

Count me in for two. Jo Ann and myself. We will most likely meet you on this side of the Dunbarton Bridge and just fall in at the end of the line and then follow you up to the museum. This sounds like great fun. Thanks for thinking of BACC.
