Default 2010 SS Camaro. . .escargot de chevrolet

2010 SS Camaro. . .escargot

the 2010 SS Camaros are not that quick. -- a 5.3L FI undercar cobra can cook one shifting at 5200.

you should have seen their little yuppie redneck faces.

You'll need to hitch up a Uhaul trailer full of furniture to your cobra to make the race closer.

GM does seem determined to make it fail, they stalled the release of the better engine. no RS or Z28 is planned either.

Really sad to see a mfg. with their engineering capabilities falter like this.

You're right there...

A friend has a FFR with a Ford Motorsport 460 crate motor. We got into a run, (closed circuit course) him in the Cobra and me with my intake/headers/tune 508 rwhp Z06. We left from a stand still and by 100 I was ahead by 6 or 7 lengths and pulling on him harder and harder.. On a open track HPDE it would have been even uglier.

Interesting question:
How does a 3100 pound, 508rwhp Vette do with a 2650 pound, 465rwhp Cobra?
(I'm assuming the crate 460 made less power than 465 at the rear.)
At least over a quarter mile.
Does the weight difference equalize the power difference?
Last Vette I ran had no chance but I don't know if stock or modified as yours.

The ability to put it to the ground is typically lacking with the Cobra, more so than the vette with it's 325 or 345 wide sticky steam rollers (345/19 Michelin PS2s in my case) and typical better gearing. The aerodynamics of the vette is temendously better too. Also, a lot of "600 hp" cobras struggle to put 400 hp to the rear tires. I think that was around what his 460 Cobra was putting down.

Given equal traction, gearing and aerodynamics a 465 rwhp Cobra would in fact beat a 508 rwhp vette. The Cobra would have 5.7 lbs per HP whereas the vette would have 6.1. I'm not a quarter mile racer but the guys that are and have good abilities running like Z06s are getting 10.8x/10.9x @ around 130 with drag radials.

Yuppie redneck? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Just think if they would have been driving a new Mustang GT you could have REALLY made them look bad.

PS.. The RS is an option package available on both the V6 and V8. There is a Z28 in the works. They had it planned and then canceled it but it is back in the pipe now, just unofficially. So is the Convertible. For more info on the Z28 see: http://www.camaro5.com/?p=1382

Those aren't sentence fragments, that's "Steve-o-ese." Pretty easy to understand once you've had a couple of beers or cocktails.

T'aint too slow, the Slomaro SS runs right there with the king of Pork, the Shelby GT 500.

You could always rent the movie "Urban Cowboy" starring John Travolta.

You'd get a kick out of the C/D magazine caparo: Camaro v.s. Challenger v.s. Mustang.

Mustang had the least HP yet after the dust settled, it won the comparison. Go figure. Ford is credited for never ceasing the production of the Mustang (although I wished they had with the Ghia Mustang II. ) . Sometimes, it's not all about power.

Do you think the results have anything to do with the fact that Ford is the only mfg of the three with an ad budget left?

J/K. I like the Camaro but wish the trunk opening wasn't useless and that the car weighed 300-500 pounds less. Just wait till the 5.0 comes out next year.

Saw a new SS locally parked next to a '67SS. What a shame. It's gigantic and looks like an inflated shelter for the '67. It idles like LeSabre.
Nothing from the past translates well as a 'retro'. Including the GT40. The Challenger and Mustang are also bad jokes.
