Default Chev 350 engine stand

Does anyone have any plans or dimensions for building an engine stand for a 350/350 combination? I need someplace to store the crate motor until its time to put it in, the shipping crate is tad too big for the space available. ken

Harbor freight has one that is cheaper than building it yourself.

I'm out of the US and it would cost more to ship it than to gold plate it at home. Thanks for the idea but still looking for some sketchs though.

Thanks 427 S/O for the idea but my only good anchor chain is hooked to a jag rear end

We use a neat set up for storage and enables moving engines around in the race trailer. Imagine a 4 wheel furniture Dolly that is about 24' x 30" and only about 4 inches off the ground. About centered on the 30 " length is a square tube that has a steel motor mount welded to it and down to the Dolly. The engine pan sets on top of the Dolly and it secured level by being bolted to the motor mount.

This set up will now roll around without tipping over but is low to the ground and will tuck under a bench. I left measurements off this description as you can make any size needed but about the footprint of the engine makes it safe and easy to wheel around.

And only $24.95 to ship it anywhere in the US, at $850 per square meter shipping to Indo and another $ 25.00 for coffee money at customs, me thinks I could just buy an old junk car and temp. mount it in the bay...thanks Chanmadd, I needed the smile...
Thanks Vettestr for the idea, guess its time to just break out the old torch and cobble one together as I go along. Low is good.
I definitely like the Harbor frieght test stand..next project.

well this could be your forray into doing it yourself, and designing it as well.

box steel tube 54+mm with a 4-5mm wall and figure out your stand.

you want it to be 300mm wider than the widest portion of the engine , and the legnth is up to you.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the way late reply, actually did make a stand with the ideas all of u suggested, well except for 427 s/o. Figured if he was still using rope for motors he must be into Matchbox cars. Car is near done and runs just fine with the distributor in backwards. As there is only one other replica in Indonesia (also SBC equipped) no would know anyway.
