Cobra Make, Engine: Classic 427, I purchased it May 2005, the kit was bought in 1991. I'm not sure when it was completed! Installed GMPP Connect & Cruise 376/525 with T-56 S/M 3.55 gears about 2 years ago! 1/4 miles is with old setup!

Default Headers & Pipes

I have not been on for a while, I hope everyone is doing well!

A few months back a bad thermostat got me a blown head gasket on my SBC 383 powered kit. I kicked a few ideas around and even thought of sticking in the GMPP 572/620 I have sitting in the garage. I wound up trading a new pair of Victor Jr CNC BBC heads I got a deal on ($1300) for a pretty hot SBC.

I'm rebuilding it to better suit my needs; AFR Race Ready 210 cc heads (2.08", 1.60"), 10-1 CR, Eagle crank & H-beam rods, KB Icon forged pistons (388 cid), Comp solid roller 280AR with rev kit. I have both a Victor Jr and RPM Air Gap intakes on hand as well as Edelbrock 750, Holley 750 & Demon 850 dbl pumpers. I planning to start with the Edelbrock carb and the RPM intake!

This thing should make well over 500 hp and really good torque. There's no way the current headers are going to work! I'll bet mine are 1 1/4" or less at the flange. I'm going with Sanderson 1 7/8" tube & 3" collector block huggers!

How can I tell if my muffles (1991 kit) are the higher flowing ones? They seem pretty loud. If they are not I'm going to build me a pair using 3" (4" body) by 35" long Cherry Bombs with turn-outs.

I just can't see building some good power to have it choked off by the exhaust system!

Al,

If they are 1991's, then they are not the higher flowing ones. The higher flowing ones came from Don at CRII. Yours should be a CR LTD set unless they were changed at a later date.
