Headrest Attachment

When attaching the headrest sliding bracket (Ford Escort)to the seat back, do they go on the back of the seat or on the side facing the seating area? My first guess was the back, but they appear in a better position if they were on the front. The front position would call for extra padding to hide the feel of the brackets. Any feedback would be appreciated.. thanks

Do you have Classic Roadster seats?
I do not have the headrests for the car I am building... Kind of gave up hope on having head rests.
Can you tell me about them. What year escort? How do they intergrate into the seats?

I could not find the head rest locally, but Bill Emerson found a pair in his area for me. They are from an early 90 Escort. My CR upholstery kit included the vinyl covers for them. The foam width has to be trimmed down to fit the covers. The hardware attaches to the seat back pan and there is a bezel that covers the upholstery opening. I just struggle with mounting them to the inside of the seat back. I am sure somewhere there is a CR cut sheet that shows the assembly. I am hoping someone has it.

As far as I know, there never was any kind of templates for the CR OEM headrests. They were always built into the seats before they were shipped. If Bill has something that would work that is great! Obviously the early Escorts aren't what was used originally, (CR started using the headrests in the mid 80's) but if the escorts work...fantastic!
