The point in the first tube Earl is in case the braided line starts to oscillate which will cause a kink thus one more revolution of the motor being geared the way it is will/COULD/ DO ALL KINDS OF NASTY THINGS.

Aluminum gas line tubing (3/8's) will do wonders for the tubing. And is easy to form the shape you need.
