Default Sebring mx switches

I have just purchased a 1962 Sebring mx and am trying to sort out a few of the unknowns about this car. I pretty well have everything figured out but I am stumped on one thing.

I have four switches on the dash. One is running lights\headlight and one is interior lights, the other two have wires running to them but I cant figure out what they do.

The windshield wipers are turned on with the steering wheel stalk and none of the switches turns the wipers on.

It has a mechanical fuel pump on the engine so it isn't for that and the electric fan is thermostat controlled and it doesn't come on when either of the switches is turn on.

Before I go poking it with my meter etc I thought I would ask. this is a 1988 build and appears to be a wiring harness and not a free hand wiring job.
thanks for any info

Lon

Ion,

First off, you have hit on a site with a bunch of very helpful guys. Unfortunately, we're all Cobra owners, not Sebring owners, so our (or at least my) knowledge of the Sebring kit is limited. If you search for Yahoo Sebring there is a Sebring forum there that may be able to help you.

Having said that, I checked my original Classic Roadster Dash layout sheet for a Cobra and it shows 4 switches also. One for headlights, one for courtesy lights, one for a fan over-ride switch, and one for an Acc'sy switch.

Hope this helps.

MC

Lon,
If your Sebring is a kit that was produced by Classic Roadsters in the late 80's / early 90's, the dash layout described by MC would be a starting point.

As mentioned before;

If it is from Classic Roadster than the other 2 switches would be

1 Top switch for the main front lights

2 2nd switch for the running lights

3 3rd switch for the electric fuel pump

4 Bottom switch for the interior lights

At least that is how my CRII Cobra is wired.

The switches will break fairly soon so you might want to replace them with metal switches.

Hi,
I have a build manual for the Sebring MX with the wiring diagrams - if you need I can send you jpg's of the relevant pages, I haven't got as far as the wiring myself and wont use their layout, so I didn't study it and so I'm not familliar with what they did and can't tell you, but you should be able to figure it out from the diagrams. The manual came from CR II about 2007 but I don't think much had changed,

regards, Eric

Default sebrng MX wiring diagram

Hi Eric. I need a wiring diagram. I accidentally drilled into my wiring harness and caused some damage. Specifically wire number 142.
Thanks.

Per the book, one DOUBLE throw switch is headlights, high/low, one is for the fan, one for interior ligjts - last one is Acc's, but being wise use it with a 30AMP Relay as a manual Fan override.
