After an extended "stall" on the build, I am starting back at it. As I last left the motor config, I had installed a Kenne Bell supercharger system. This resulted in me having to "Frankenstein" the hood scoop. The more I looked at it, the less I liked it!http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=18853&thumb=1
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=18908&thumb=1 http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=18857&thumb=1 So, I looked for some time online to purchase a Hartmann/ Comp Cams composite box as Don Scott & DV for their builds. Was having no luck. But I had found a used JEGS/Cartech Max Box for a good price. I had looked at the Trick Flow Box but it is very pricey and they have been out of stock for some time. The used ones on ebay have been over a thousand and you have to use both thier upper and lower as a system. My original lower had been extrude honed for better flow already. So, I took off the KB S/C and dry fit the new upper. It is over 3 1/2" lower! And about 35 lbs lighter. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=20245&thumb=1 http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=20246&thumb=1 I can now revert to an original style 427 hood with scoop config. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...=20247&thumb=1 The top of the box is at the bottom level of the hood- with the scoop added, it will all clear! So I will reach out to COACHSMITHING in Wisconsin and see about them making a new aluminum skin with an aluminum scoop attached to my frame. I think I will like the finished product even though I am giving up about 100 HP. Thom |
