Default Hard top options?

Hey guys. I am curious if anyone has a hardtop or knows of a company that creates hardtops for our CR cobras? I was contemplating just the piggyback tonneau cover (really I am only more concerned if I take my car out and I get rain or something. If I take it to work I dont want it baking in the sun all day and burn myself when I come out).

The cost of the piggyback seems a bit steep to me (I am still considering it though) especially with shipping.

I have done a bit of research into HOME and have an email into them but I expect being in Europe and shipping and costs of this will be outrageous we will see.

Just curious if anyone with a CR has actually considered this?

Thanks

I got bunches of hardtops for cobras, but I would need your car here to fit one to your car, email your number to me and I'll go over the details, thanks, mrb

There was a photo of Mr. Bruce's lemans top with the windows on a CR. i have been wanting on of his tops for awhile. Only delayed due to finances, almost saved up enough. I never did ask him about side windows or what hatch struts are used. He has other styles also. i could only find the not CR picture. You will find lots of positive remarks about his tops. Most people make their own side curtains/windows. Those British tops are absolutely awesome when you look at the windows and mounting. Their side window and trim is very unique and easily to spot, however this price is up there. Mostly fitted to DAX Cobras that I saw.

Eaks, I'm surprised you you found 427hardtops. It took me a bit to find the actual company when started my research a long time back, normally only pics, no actual company info.

Maybe he could ship his car to you. I doubt he would have driven it all the way to your shop. Business is still going across the border, but I think tourists are not crossing.

Shipping isn't going to be an option as the cost would be too much for me. Im also curious if I would actually fit in one with the top installed.

I will just keep my eyes open.. Any other options? I just think its crazy money to spend 500+ for a piggyback cover (after shipping/customs/ect) that will only protect against the rain/sun when parked.

Why not go with a Bemini top? I know Regs at Backdraft is making them. I made my own using front bows from ERA and the bracket from my soft top. Put some stays along the sides and 2 across the top. 80mph no flap.

The real top molds are right next door to you in Regina. Give Ryan a call and see if he will make you one for cash, “When you pick it up”. I think he said he had them. His numbers here somewhere. I’ve got a trip planed to see the body molds when Covid lifts. I talked to him a few weeks ago and he said come on up. You being from The Great White North and all...it can’t hurt to ask maybe revive the topsi

DON'T DO ANYTHING with Ryan unless you can pick it up (in person) then and only then, give him the money. if you look up "Crook" in the dictionary you know who's picture shows up Just saying, Read: Highplainsdrifter's posts here, about Mr. Ryan Marten. I'd wait till you can deal Mr. Bruce, it's worth the wait. Cheers TommyRot.

Yes very very important cash at pickup. Shipping your car from Canada to MrBruce is not happening. Highplainsdrifter did get a car but short about $2000 in parts. Baddddd deal all around. You could check out the molds for us maybe post some pix. It’s just that your so close and fiberglass is what he does have

If anyone has a contact number for him I would reach out and see if there is anything he can do for me. If I show up and collect I have no issue paying cash. But from what I've read I don't think I would give any deposit or anything.

Does anyone have a contact number for him?

Also I would take pics of anything but to be honest if he can't provide these I doubt they exist.

Edit:I did dig up his contact information.. I just sent a couple texts as it's a bit late now. I will follow up with a phone call tomorrow and see if I can get a hold of anyone.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would work well if he does have something available

What he said. This forum is filled with examples of how Ryan is not a person you'd ever want to buy anything from unless you have cash in your hand and he has what you are buying in his.

REPEAT! APPROACH WITH CAUTION!

I have talked to him 4 or 5 times thru the years. He said he has 2 complete sets of molds. Im headed there soon as they allow road trips again. Be cool to see the molds. Just don’t put cash up front rite. Bring your car on a trailer if top fits pay the man. I think he just wants to sell out tho

So he's trying to sell the mold(s)...again? This is worthy of a new topic.

I'm gonna love this story. Please at the end compare the quality of the experience to poking sharp sticks in your eye.

It's funny because I was just thinking the other day when he was going to crop up again.

Whatever happened to the guy in Florida that was going to crank out hand rolled aluminum rollers for about $200? Seems time for him to resurface too.

There are some people out there whose reputation precedes them. Ryan holds first place.

Good luck though.

No he did not try to sell the molds to me. I asked if he would sell them and he said “Make an offer”. He’s not doing anything CR wise. Maybe he could make a top. I called him about stopping by to see the molds. He said sure come on by. My family lived in Saskatoon 150 years ago and I’m going there anyway just for fun. It’s worth checking out

I would like to think he was just in over his head, and thought he could make a quick profit, since "everybody" wants one. Clearly and grossly underestimating not only his potential client base, but his competition. I would've been happy with him simply offering up parts. I get it he shelled out the money, his risk. However his attitude and actively alienating his potential client base is nothing short of cutting his businesses own throat. Maybe, just maybe he has wised up a bit. Unfortunately for him, because of no actions other than his own. Put him in a place where I doubt seriously anybody will give even think of giving him a second thought.

Maybe we can get some fiberglass parts. That’s what he really does. I’m going to go see anyway but who knows when with covid. Roadtrip, I remember road trips...

@sunman, that unfortunately is not all he does, find the story about him selling a "Monster Truck" to a few different folk's that he never owned nor delivered , or his tax problems, I'm sure there's much more in his troubled past. "If you play with fire" you will get burned sunman, and this dude is Fire. Listen to Tony. Or better yet. I have "Highplainsdrifter" phone# if you would like to speak with him, about Mister Ryan. We Cobra owners have long memories when one of are own gets "Screwed over" Take heed my friend, and just stay away from this Crook.
