Missing part, classic roadsters 1991 kit

1 Attachment(s)
New kit from 1991 missing this part for hinges and windshield mount, anyone have a spare or blue prints I can build one from

74proii 05-20-2021 09:46 AM

The windshield mounts basically the same for all cobra. Classic Roadsters just show where to cut. I have never seen them separate from the windshield. I would ask companies like Finishline or Shell Valley. As far as I know all cobras other than Superformance use the same windshield. Did you look at your styrofoam box the windshield came it? I could give a pic of the car side of the door mounts, I do not have the door side mounts.

440.mustang 05-20-2021 07:47 PM

This piece is missing the complete unit, this is a pic of the the piece I need, or if I can get good measurements I can build it, I can make the hinge mounts off the hinges, but would need a measurement from the 1x1 tube to center of hinge bolt holes, also the holes for windshield mount holes and Angel of windsheild posts also flat piece for dash mount, wiper mounts, width of arc on top

Roylerumble 05-23-2021 10:08 AM

I just picked up my 91 kit, and another guy is building the exact same one. All parts are easy to get to. I'll do up some good pics and measurements for you. PM me with an email

sunman 05-23-2021 12:10 PM

I’m not clear if Royals got one loose or not. I’ve got one not installed. If you want I can trace whole unit laid on its side and mail pattern to you. That would make figuring the radius easy. Make a bending buck and 3/4 plywood weld up jig off the pattern. PM me if interested. Party On

Roylerumble 06-18-2021 09:20 AM

did you get what you need?

sunman 06-18-2021 10:52 AM

Hey Royal I got one I’m measuring and taking photos of. I figured the hoop radius but will trace the whole thing too. I also have photos of coil overs and brakes you are looking for. Will post tomorrow and update your threads

Roylerumble 06-18-2021 11:04 AM

nice. I'm going to start tearing into my project soon here and removing the body from the frame. I figured I could take the firewall off and start doing the same if needed.

I'm looking forward to the pics of the pedals and coil overs.

Pm'd ya my email. I also went to the site of the original manufacturer of the upper control arm mounts and found some cobra parts there. They have a wiper kit, looks to be the best price I've seen so far.

Who is the supplier for the wiper motor?

Thom

sunman 06-23-2021 10:52 AM

Bethania Garage doesn’t sell Cobra parts or Mustang II alignment saver brackets anymore
They bought from Finishline and Shell Valley
I’m shopping the “Period Correct” Lucas setup linked to in wiper thread
A arm brackets from Terry’s alignment saver 2 drawing in his gallery look good

its a lucas motor I believe. The manual says 1968-1980 MGB roadster or GT. I called a British parts dealer and he had used, reman, and new options. He said those were in most brit cars, but, he also said there was a different drive gear for roadsters and GT's that effected the sweep of the wiper. Shell Valley and many other dealers sell kits and individual parts.

I too have sent those pics of the upper control arm alignment saver to a few fab shops in my area to build. Not much luck so far, and if they are interested in building them, I'll have to sell a kidney to pay for them. If you have any luck south of the border, let me know. I might jump in on a purchase with you. You doing the bracket with the double holes, or single? Not sure what the difference was beyond the obvious.

sunman 06-25-2021 07:36 AM

Got a fab shop about to happen
I will make the single hole a arm brackets, that’s whats in photos
All the cool guys use the Quad Shocks so Im making brackets for them first. Only needed with rubber rear arm bushings
Changed my mind on the old SVO brakes and will be ordering a complete SN95 rear brake kit from North Racecars
Hey this is a new build finally:D

Sunman, Remember if you go with the Cobra brakes they are larger than the GT, and you should order the anti-moan brackets from SVE to stop the vibration. The SVE are the best I have seen. I assume you have the 8.8, as there are kits for the 9" as well.

sunman 06-25-2021 10:57 AM

The North Racecars brakes come complete with everything, e brake cables and 3 braided brake lines
The brackets are proprietary and patented. Easy new done deal
I’m on to making frame brackets for the KYB Quad Shocks I just picked up
The brackets are already on the 8.8
I like softer bushings and don’t plan to use adjustable hard bushing arms so I want the shocks

We might not be on the same page. I have never seen a "complete kit" come with these from anybody but original Ford. I wasn't talking about the mount brackets. I was referring to these:

sunman 06-25-2021 03:28 PM

It’s a complete kit North Racecars with special patented brackets that don’t need extra bracket
Don’t need no triangulation
Thick as a brick
Rotors, loaded calipers, e brake cables, braided brake lines, axels if you want
It’s sweet. Goggle it up, North Racecars
I’m waiting on UPS with the springs and shock mount brackets now
Just mocked up the quad shock and designed a bolt on frame bracket for the shock

start a thread, tell us what your building, mods, parts, plans. Love to hear about what you're gonna do and how.

sunman 06-27-2021 05:03 PM

Welcome to the best forum on the web!
Looks like small block, T5 and you got most of the chassis done
There are 5 or 6 CRs going at once now
This hasn’t happened in a while
What Royal said, start a build thread, post pix and make sure they are in the gallery
Links and post photos disappear with time
You guys were great when my crew set off false alarms in hospital remodels...
