Hi Mike, long time no hear. Hey, I have a (NOS) set of CR gauges, 'I'll make you a deal you can't refuse' for the whole set. I ended up with a vintage set of VDO's. Give me a call, we'll work out the shipping, Cheers Tom.

Even though you only set it once, the 4-6-8 cylinder switch on the back of the tach (if your tach has one) can be problematic over time. Work it back and forth a few times to clean the contacts.

Tachs often get there ground through the mounting bracket. Make sure it's not loose and clean it can help.

Don't know what type ignition system you've got. If you have an MSD system, check your ignition system output to the tach. The tach output on my MSD 6AL box is supposed to be 1-5 VDC, motor idling, output wire disconnected. The output of the tach adapter fed by the 6AL output should be 2-3 VAC. The output of the tach adapter should be disconnnected from the tach for this measurement. All this checked out in my car, so I replaced my tach, which fixed my problem.
