That one has AC and a cup holder. It also has a 900wat theater surround sound system. And 9 speakers. oh and remote start heated seats adjustable lumbar supports satulight tracking for theft recovery hands free phone. And a lot moor. Last year this car won best exotic at the Kool April nights show In Redding, CA out of 2800 cars. The Finish on the dash has a UV proterent in it so it wont look like your sale boat. And it just won our local auto cross. of coarse Erik Marlier used to build Scarabs in the 70s and race them. the 260Z whit 350s in them. Wood done right Is worm and classic. What weather beaten dash ??? The resolution on your monitor must be set too low to see pics clearly. Or you've got that gashole hat pulled down over your eyes too far!! None of the pics I see look weather beaten. Paul |

You may be right. There seem to be some sort of decal around the switches that probably blurred the picture. I went ahead and adjusted the monitor like you suggested. It is much better now. Here is the part of the dash that looks pretty shinny on my monitor. |

The part that looked like it may be grayish in color is the area where the switches are.
Opinion in this instance more on the use of wood on dashboards of cars without protection. No top, no windows. Kind a like you don't see too much wood trim on bikes. They look great for 3 or 4 months andd then get soiled. I am sure yours look great. No offense was intended towards your car, maybe as much as it was directed at wood. Period. The hat fits fine. Meant no offence. You're right about the colour (sp. color - for you) difference. The wood is american black walnut and the colour diference is between the heart wood and the sap wood. But that is the beauty of wood. If I wanted it to be uniform in colour, I would have gone with plastic. In the previous pics, I tried so hard to avoid any glare (shiney spots). I have attached a couple of pics with glare so the wood doesn't look so "weather beaten". Paul |

Classic Roadsters
All I know about Classic Roadsters is that in July, 1992 I paid them $11,900 for an owners ID card and a letter from the US Bankrupcy court. Now that they are back in business again, I can no longer afford to buy another, even with the small discount they offered me. I still have the owners ID, as that is a very expensive piece of laminated paper.

Dash's are a very personal thing. Wood, leather,vinyl, aluminum,carbon fibre, what ever works for you. It's the old, it's your car, build it your way! I'm not into a wood dash myself but the one pictured is certainly an eye opener. Beautifull! Turk, I certainly wouldn't suggest it for a Trawler but you can use any of the professional automotive clear coats to cover them. With minimal care they will last for years and years. We clear coated the mahogany transom on our old SkiffCraft over 15 years ago and it still looks like a mirror. Wish I still had that boat :( DV...Fatman hey? This could be real interesting. |
