Which clutch ??
My clutch is starting to slip noticably, in 5th gear when I step on it a bit. I bought the the car a few years ago it is a 92 CR It had 12,000 miles when I got it and has about 15K total now. I do tend to drive spiritedly. Motor is a 351 W. with around 400Hp. Mcleod Bell Housing, mated to a Richmond 5-Speed.
I have no idea of the clutch, any recommendations for a clutch pressure plate combo?? |
Ken, may I make a guess, you're out of adjustment?

DV's probably right. 15k for a clutch is a bit quick, even for spirited driving. I wrote out the steps for a fellow ERA owner, including photos, on how to adjust your clutch. Do a quick search and if you can't find it let me know. I've posted links to it several times -- it's a ten minute job.

Ken, You should try adjusting it first. If that does not do the job good enough, I can give you a recomendation on what clutch I used. My clutch is a King Cobra clutch, pressure plate and I think a Stock type Ford throwout bearing but It could be King Cobra also, I am not positive on that because I went to Mustangs Plus in Stockton and ordered the whole kit thru them.
Ken, You have a PM. Terry |
Kens67Cobra,
Do yourself a favor and read this whole thread. I know it starts out as a hydraulic clutch question but it will describe your problem exactly and how to make it right. 15k on such a light car and the clutch going away is NOT normal, it is a perfect sign and mileage for a simple adjustment-unless you're really ridiing the clutch a lot :) http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/classic-roadsters-ii/85123-changing-t5-cable-clutch-external-slave-hydrolic.html DV |
