Chris: Proper location of eng. mounts
Chris, right below the red "V" (which is laying on its side.) is sitting on the welded in engine mount that is welded on at the factory. The complete engine mount is from Jegs.
I think in a post up a few (dozen?) threads cpt eddie has posted pictures of these v's. Do you not have the welded brackets on the frame that the V's bolt to? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...gine_mount.JPG DV PS. The V's come seperate in the kit and are raw steel. |

My car is a 1997 Classic Roadster I? Maybe this is the difference?

KCM, I have a '97 CR. What is it you need? If its pictures of motormounts I can oblige. I don't have the type pictured by capteddie. Let me know if I can help.

I've been building these since prior to 97' I have neveer seen one without the frame mounts that eddie is showing, granted his motor mounts are the new ones but the actual frame member should be welded in. Now assuming they are not (?) then you are starting from absolutely scratch and assuming you have the mounts you are planning to use at the right height, right angles and the right locations for left and right is going to be a big maybe! I have done what you are doing a hundred times with street rods as they don't come with any type mount location. If you want get a paper, pencil, tape measure and call me I will take all the time you need to locate the mounts you are using correctly. Attached are the pictures of the mounts and insulators which are on my 97 CR. If anyone has pictures of a similiar set up, pictures of the motor mounts and frame mounts would be helpful. Ultimately I need to figure where to put the engine in the frame. I havea302 engine and measurements from the front of the steering cross member to the timing chain cover or block will help

Thanks to all for the information. I solved the problem with DV's assistance. I do not have a Classic Roadster, I have a Classic Cobra Car.

The build on my car started around 1999 (or so the paperwork says). I have a complete set of documentation including the build manual. DV, I would think that you have several of these around your shop. If anyone of you would need the manual or any pics or paperwork I would be glad to send them out. Jim |

I appreciate it, but the manual is close to 25 years or more outdated. The whole reason, I am being so detailed (I hope) about cpt eddies car is I am in the process of making a new manual on DVD. However at this point, since CR is out I business I don't have the faintest idea why! DV |
KCM, the best I can tell, depending on year it is a Fiberfab, "Classic Motor carriage, Streetbeast or Innovative street machine ALL of them are the same company!
If you can contact Streetbeasts I think they can supply you with all your missing or incorrect parts mandated by a Federal Judgement. Good luck- DV |

Did a little research on the internet, I found out that Classic Motor Coach changed names to Auto Resolutions when they had "issues". I have a receipt from Auto Resolutions dated 8/97. Auto Resolutions eventually changed names to Street Beasts. I spoke with Street Beasts this morning and according to the parts dept, I can get any part I need. He was very helpful and gave me additional info regarding the Street Beast build. Things are now starting to make sense and fit together. Again Thanks! |
