Parking Brake works forward but not backward

So I had a little suprise. I usually park my car facing down the driveway but the other parked it facing up and the parking brake didn't hold it. But it hold's facing the other direction. What's up with that.?? Rear drums by the way. Probably going away later this year for disc but for the meantime I should fix that.
