Hi, My name is Luis and i just purchase a roadster, but i was wondering if anyone can help me find out who the manufacturer was. The dealership had no idea. It has "some" cosmetic work, but i think it will make a good project. I posted some pics in my profile and any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Good looking car but we need some shots of the engine compartment and the interior to make a better guess at it...

Rear leaf springs makes me believe it's from the guy building in Kansas them using the older Acme bodys as seen on Ebay from time to time.

I cant get the pics. to open......

tcrist 10-09-2010 11:09 AM

Ok,

Where are these pic's? I look in the profile and all I see is one pic. I click the camera icon and there are no pic's. I look in the "pictures and albums" and there is no user pic's with that name.

I know, I am a dummy. They are hiding somewhere.

I'm sorry, i just changed my album to public, but also you should be able to see some of the pics above computerworks comment. I was told that it was put together on 2002 according to the dealership. I bought it from a dealership in indiana called Ray Skillman classic collector cars. It was a trade in. All they knew was that it was a 302 crate engine with a 5 speed transmission.

tcrist 10-09-2010 08:24 PM

Hay, I see the light:LOL:.

ogravty 10-09-2010 08:27 PM

You see the light at the end of the tunnel? becareful, sometimes the light is from the train coming your way :P Thank you for helping though. I tried contacting the dealer and see if they new anything more, and they said that the guy who trade it in only said that he bought it 4 yrs ago. It is still a good project car but i would like to know who is the manufacturer so i can buy more stuff for it.

tcrist 10-09-2010 10:28 PM

Look around on the frame in the engine compartment area for a manufacture number. Especially around the shock towers and around the radiator area. Sometimes the first couple of letters on the ID number is a manufacture code.

A manufacture code is not necessarily a VIN, but it could be. What are the first few digits of the VIN?

FredBMOC 10-10-2010 02:33 AM

Luis,
I mean you no disrespect but why would you buy a car such as this without knowing who the manufacturer of the car is? It seems like a big gamble as these cars can be quirky and then trying to find parts can be a nightmare if you don't know what the different pieces came out of.
Anyway I wish you good look with the car, they certainly are fun to drive!

Excaliber 10-10-2010 07:03 AM

He's not the first and won't be the last to not, or never, figure out who the manufacturer is. In fact, the owner of Club Cobra, this very site, Brent, never did find out who made his first Cobra!

rustyBob 10-10-2010 07:40 AM

Back to the point of the thread....
some of the early E-M cars could be built
with leaf springs but i never saw one so i
cant say if thats one or not....
its not a bad looking car....with some TLC
it could be a real nice car....good luck and
have a lot of fun with it....

ogravty 10-10-2010 07:40 AM

Thank you Tcrist, i will do that as soon as i the car is here in San Diego, since it is still in transit.
FredBmoc, I know what you are saying. But i have work on making modifications before. Like in my 88' Fiero going from stock V6 to a 04 surperscharge V6, and changing from being an automatic to a 5 speed. or changing suspension or upgrading rotors and break system, so i don't think the mechanical part of will be a problem. I guess i just wanted to know for my own knowledge if there was a way to tell. Also i wanted to get a soft top and i was wondering if some of the soft top out there it will fit my car, since when I asked FF they said that their premium convertible soft top was only made to fit their cars and it might not fit mine.
I see two opening holes in the door in Pic 204 and 244 of my album, so i'm assuming it had to some kind of window from a softop, but there is nothing else that it will tell me that had one before. Also most of the pictures i have seen have 3 holes and not just 2 on the door. Is there a standard soft top for this cars? I guess that was another reason why i wanted to know the manufaturer of the car, so that way i can go to them and buy additional accesories like the soft top.
Excaliber, thank you for your comment. I'm pretty sure this will not be my first and only cobra either, but i will learn a lot from it. :)

ogravty 10-10-2010 07:45 AM

Thank you for your comment RustyBob and additional info. I know with some additional work, and cosmetic touches it will look a lot better. I think it has a lot of potential and one of the main reasons i got it. :)
