Want a 289

I'm new to the group and I'm looking for 289 ERA or equal. Had CSX2367 from new for 46 years, sold it and want a 289 kit. Anybody know of one for sale?

MOTORHEAD 11-23-2012 08:17 AM

HI; I'm in Bradenton. Did you own the BRG 289 that you showed at local events? I can't believe you sold it !!!! I think "mr Mustang" on this site has a 289FIA for sale. Do a search on MR Mustang.
PS: also check out " riverside racer, they have an extremely accurate 289 replica being marketed thru Superformance, pricey. There's a recent thread showing it at some event ( goodwood maybe?)
Do you want to build one yourself, or do you want one ready to drive ?
I'd welcome you to the madness, but obviously you've been there for some time !!!!!!!!!!

ERA, Riverside or Kirkham are your best choices. All make standard 289 models.
Finding one used for sale may be a little difficult as there are not many out there but it is possible.

Take a ride to Gulf Coast Motors in Bonita Springs. See the Superformance version. You will be impressed. I remember your CSX from St. Armands show. I thought you would be buried in that car.

DAVESS 11-23-2012 12:12 PM

Which body style 289 are you looking for (slabside or FIA)?
What stage of build are you looking for?

Cobra Corky 11-23-2012 12:34 PM

I have a Black 289 FIA in race dress of sale in PA. PM me for photos if you are intrested. crate 302 with Weber 48 IDF's 5speed new tires

Call Ross at SPF. Get a CSX#, COX# or SPF# either way they are very nice and accurate buggy spring chassis done right. Dennis O at SPF North Carolina can help as I think he is a dealer.

They do slabside too............

jolsen42 11-23-2012 02:13 PM

csx 2367 (Joe), your car was my inspiration for my build. I believe your car is the most beautiful Cobra around. I've tried to replicate it to the best of my ability with what I had. I used a Factory Five chassis and a Mr. Bruce body. Here is a link to a thread from the FF forum on her first time out. It was a cloudy overcast day so the color doesn't pop.

C'mon, Joe. Stop screwing around with these Cobra-type cars. We've been there & done that. What you need is a middle-age codpiece. So get a new Corvette. That's what all the really cool guys are doing.

1985 CCX 11-23-2012 05:40 PM

Ned

You are right, let me swap you a new 2012 vette for your little green car.......:3DSMILE:

Forget the Vette, I think Ned needs a nice Laguna Blue Miata, I suppose I can get the wife to trade you even up for that old Green turd sitting in your garage ;)

Ned, you know two things about me after forty years: I don't have the gold chains required for the Corvette and once you have a Cobra for forty six years you always need one. It is incurable...you should know that by now!

mickmate 11-24-2012 02:02 PM

I sent you a PM if you check the top right for messages.

1ntCobra 11-25-2012 08:08 AM

Panel Craft made a 289 FIA roller.

Was that a one-off car? Did anyone buy it and finish it?

mickmate 11-25-2012 08:22 AM

Joe did make a beauty, that is his car. He's using it as his prototype to be able to make more to order. He'll get to finishing it around his other work. What is it about a builders house, plumbers plumbing................

Redline Randy 11-25-2012 08:17 PM

Joe, you should have taken a real shot at my Contemporary slabside when you saw it in my Dad's garage. Ask mickmate how special that car really is.
