Default Almost a Cobra owner.??

Arizona cobra dreamer here, planning to go look at an unfinished 302 B&B manufactured car on Monday. So excited i had a hard time sleeping.. Hopefully i can look at it with less heart and more brain.. We will see then if i'm part of the cool guy club.
Great forum, love the diversity.

I don't know any cobra owners, let alone a B&B. The car looks great in the pics, deal seems right. What kind of headaches are involved with the B&B's. I've read the owners split up, but it was mostly customer service stuff rather than build quality. Wouldn't think i'd get much from any manufacturer buying there kits 2nd hand anyhow.

If you do not know what you are looking at, you are better off not going to look at it at all. Everything looks nice in pictures, even in person, but when you start looking at the mechanicals, wiring, suspension, brakes, fuel and brake lines and how they are routed (you being a newbie will not know what to look for, there is no way to walk you through it as each car is hand built).

Again, you are better off not going to look at it without a mechanic at the very least. Forget about what you eyes and your heart is telling you, play it safe or walk away.

Thanks, I haven't built a cobra, but i have built a sandcar from ground up and swapped a few engines in my day, no expert, but comfortable with my skills. I'll be sure my head is in the game.

I'll try to keep an eye out for the little things that can turn into big things.. its a running car, just needs the finishing touches. I thought you were saying there is something inherently wrong with that builder.

PS i'm in the middle of reading your how to buy a cobra thread. Thanks

Know exactly what you are looking at, not all Cobra replicas are built the same.

Its your dream, your money, go look at it, if the deal is right you will know it.
All these cars are just hot rods with a fiberglass body glued and bolted on.
The csx Shelby cars, Kirkhams, Exact, and the older HiTech are the only car builders that copy or stay close to the original sixties cars.
Sounds like you can get around a car but always good to take some one IF you feel you need the help. Every bodies budget is different, I know people that have both 15k cars and 150k cars and both enjoy there cars.
Good luck take your time and if you have questions bring them here, and pictures will help a lot here.

So it turns out the car was not a B&B after all, it was purchased from LA exotic in 1992, although the original owner said it was a trade in, he believes it was in fact one of their cars. The confusion was the seller only bought it a week ago and didn't know much. Maybe i'll start another thread to help ID the car for sure. Thanks for all your help.. and yes i bought it.

Hey Fred, sorry but I just saw your thread.
L.A. Exotics was a now sold company that was started by a guy named Bryan Anderson. He sold the company and started B&B.
Have you seen this thread: LA Exotics

Thanks Larry, thats ok, i still have to do some finishing touches.. and some major interior work. It would be nice to have some local cobra guys to visit with. I'm up on the NW side., PM me if your close by. I had not seen that thread but similar ones. It was nice to see the connection between the two manufactures it makes more sense why the seller advertised the car that way.

This is one of the reasons I bought a Superformance Cobra. Every Superformance roller is made in South Africa the same way. I have not heard of a installer that did a poor job (but realize this is not a great assumption to make). The next question is what condition it is in. I feel qualified enough to decide if the Superformance is in good enough condition to meet my needs. Superformance Cobras were in my price range and I was able to find one I wanted. That worked for me and know it won't work for everyone.

quick recap, I've had the car for several months now.. met a bunch of great people in the tucson cobra club, haven't had time to work on it much, but it looks great sitting in the garage and driving up and down the local streets. Had one cobra club member come by to look at it,, and he said it is one of the nicest fiberglass bodies he has seen. The lines and seams are all tight and match up. Very nice thing to hear.
I still have work to do, and will post pics once i get rolling, but for now thanks for all the help and advice. Happy with my cobra.
