Default Finally!!

I have waited almost 20 years to be able to make this post, but after some wheeling and dealing over the last few days I am now the proud owner of an ERA 289 Cobra. The car was built in 2008, currently has just shy of 4000 miles on it, and for all I can tell is in immaculate condition.
Many thanks to Saleen09, a fellow cobras enthusiast who answered the call to inspect the car for me (the car is in Washington, I live in Virginia). He did an amazing job looking at the car, and helping me get a great price on it as well.
Still have to work out the logistics of getting it from Seattle area to eastern Virginia so any advice on shipping companies is appreciated.
I will post a pic or 2, and promise to post many more once the car is safely in my hands.

Best Regards,
Byron

Byron,

Congratulations!!! It is about time. Do a search for car shippers on this forum and you should get a few hits. From my experience of shipping my ERA to Texas when it was old, make sure that the shipper states that where you live and the car is are on their regular route. My ERA sat in my garage for about five weeks after the sale as the original shipper hired by the buyer fired the first driver who was supposed to pickup the car the week after the sale and then could not reschedule because I was not on their regular route. The buyer eventually went with a second shipper who was able to get here in a week. The second sniper was a local shipper to him and did a fine job.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

JIm

I have used both FexEx Custom Critical and Inter City Lines to ship a Cobra across the country. Both companies were very professional and deliver the car on time and in great shape. If they were both the same cost and I had to make a choice it would be Inter City because of the quality of the rig. Nothing wrong with the FedEx setup but the Inter City rig was outstanding. Congratulations and have fun with your new toy.

Thanks Texas Snake for the kind words and advice. I am starting to discover that shipping brokers are more cut throat and aggressive than used car salesman.

There are a couple of pics of the car in in my first post. Don't have any personal ones yet as the car is out of state, and I have not personally laid eyes or camera on it. I will post a few more from the dealer that took them. I promise a ton of pics once I get the car into my own hands.

Sorry that was only one other picture, my computer is giving me fits, I will try again. As for some details on the car. It was registered in 2008, only has 3912 miles on it, has a smelling performance 347 stroker with about 425 horsepower. I know that is not a lot for the big block guys out there, but should be more than enough to keep me entertained. I really fell in love with the solid color, and I am a sucker for the small block FIA cars. Of course the fact that it is an ERA car made the decision so much easier.

Best Regards,
Byron

Car got picked up on Friday in Washington state by Plycar transporters. Should be in my anxiously awaiting hands by the end of June. I am so excited I can barely contain myself.

Glad you found a transporter, but the END of June? How come it is taking so long to get from Washington state to VA?? I would think by the end of May would be more like it.

I meant the beginning of June not the end. About a week and a half total for the trip across country. So not as bad as the mis typing made it sound. I promise lots of pics when it arrives.

Just got the call from the transport driver. My car will be in my driveway this evening. I am so excited. This has the potential to be the greatest day ever.

Well at about 4:15 this afternoon, a very nice big rig pulled up in front of my house and after some fancy ramp moving and some skilled driving, my ERA Cobra was delivered safe and sound in my driveway. I have to say it is truly amazing. Having bought it sight unseen I was a little nervous, but I could not be happier with my purchase. Still waiting on registration paperwork so only took it for a few short laps around the block. Even with just the 1 mile I drove it, it will take surgery to remove the smile from my face. Looks like my oil temp gauge is not working, but everything else seems A OK. Now I have something to troubleshoot while I wait for my license plates. Ply Car did a great job, and their driver Moe was top notch. Here are a few cell phone pics. Once she is fully legal I promise some nicer photos from the surrounding area.

Byron,

Looks great! So glad for you. Hopefully the registration process goes through quickly. Spent the day trying to get the rear brakes and hubs finalized, a few more minor adjustments and hopefully the car will be ready for the next phase.

Enjoy your car!

Jim
