That is an absurd price. You're well into Superformance territory.

True, but it has heated seats and LED headlamps!

You'd think for that kind of money they could at least post some decent photos. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Can't say I've ever heard of the company.
I do have to say, for the money being asked, their are better cars/companies out there, but it is your hard earned money, so who are we to tell you how to spend it.

Should seriously look into Vintage Motorsports.

What is a "Prestige 427 C (500HP)" and why does it cost $25,500?

Alright, that does look pretty. But for $25k I would think you could get an FE, but the only big block Fords they seem to offer are the 385 variety. You know I'm old school. I think a 427 car should have an FE in it, not a small block that works out mathematically to 427. Especially if you're going to drop $25k on it.

Still too much for a Backdraft. Please do some due diligence and look at what other cars like it have sold for.

As others have said, it’s overpriced. However, it is ready to drive away today.
And that’s worth something to those of us that can’t wait to drive it. There’s at least a 6 month to a year wait to get the exact car you want built.
Price one out on the backdraft site and then make the best deal you can. With the economy going south, I’ve noticed prices for replicas dropping. Just look at BAT and see the ones that didn’t meet their reserves lately where six months ago almost all sold over their reserve price.
It’s a well optioned car. If you want to drive it today, make the best deal you can stomach.
You might call Vintage first and get their take on the dealer and that car first.
Good luck.

I would ask for info over at the Facebook Backdraft Owners Group as its pretty lively with new purchases of RT4s. https://www.facebook.com/groups/293849465285867

Looking at Motor Vaults "about me" on the website and their FB page they mainly deal in consignments of classic and exotic cars. Their Bio says:
With over 20 years of sales, consignment, brokerage and marketing experience of high-line and exotic. Which they do point to another shop to finish the BDR rollers they sell. https://motorvault.com/our-partners. The Car Vault appears to be their finisher to drop the motor and trans in.
Even the main BDR shop in Boynton Bch FL uses Speed Fanatics to finish their cars. That said, make sure you have who is responsible for warranty nailed down.
Prestige Motorsport has a good reputation for engines, but they're in NC. Pretty far from you for warranty. There are several local engine shops in the Indy area with good reputations, so if something does go awry you can get it covered parts and labor, and not just parts like when your dealing with a long distance builder.

High? Yes. Absurd? Not necessarily.

I take it that this is a 'new' BDR and not a used one (2022, RT4). That being said, it's not that far from what someone would be paying for a brand new RT4 BDR....but without the 1 year wait (minimum).

Reach out to the guys in the Hoosier Cobra Club, at http://hoosiercobra.com/, as they hold one of their meetings at Motorvault. I think Motorvault may be a club sponsor. Look in the Newsletters for contact info. Terry Gentry's number is in there somewhere. They have a wide variety of Cobra manufacturers represented in the club so you can see lots a variations/alternatives.

While you are at it, you might consider getting a custom build, to your exact specs, from a company like Unique Motorcars or ERA, as well. Good luck with the search!

As many others have already said the $100K or near $100K price threshold opens up a lot of other alternatives. You might want to check them out before spending your hard earned monies.

Most things we buy depreciate, some faster than others. If you attempted to sell this immediately you would be stunned at the price you could get and I don't mean stunned positively. Go to Bring a Trailer (BAT) and search on just Backdraft Cobra's to get a sense of what market value for these cars is. That tells you what arms length buyers and sellers are willing to buy and sell Backdraft cars for.

It will also show you what $100K can buy and just might save you some buyers remorse.

jhv48 09-30-2022 09:00 AM

FYI, a recent red backdraft with a roush 427 only bid to $76,000 on BAT. It appears prices are heading downward.

Sorry, I do my own due diligence for myself.
