Default Snaking in South Africa

Hi fellow Cobra enthusiasts,

I am based in Centurion, South Africa and are currently attempting to complete a KCC 427 S/C replica. This kit was bought way back in 2000 and build as and when there was some spare cash. Everything came to a halt when I got married and the two kids came along, and life happened...

Fast forward to January 2023... I needed to make a decision to either sell or complete the project. It was not difficult to remember why I wanted to build this car in the first place and decided to actively continue with the build.

At the moment the chassis and suspension are all done. Received a set of 15" Halibrand style knock-off wheels recently. The engine is in progress, and have a tranny, bellhousing, etc. A few weeks back the repro lighting arrived from England and that is sorted. It is now all the smaller bits and pieces in the cab that I am looking for and a fuel filler cap. The intend is to go as original as possible but with some modernisation tech parts, i.e. electronic instruments, TBI, ignition, etc.

I'm looking forward to some good conversation on the forum.

Cheers
Janus

Depending on the kinds of devices and profiles being utilized, three to four devices is a reasonable maximum. geometry dash scratch

Good luck with the build! Not too long ago one of my trusted suppliers, AJAX castings near Cape Town, closed doors. So far I was not successful in locating the patterns. Amongst others: GT40 fuel filler cap, Lemans fuel filler cap. Probably all scrapped. If I build another car, look at what the Porsche 917 had: A cap from a truck!

Good move importing the proper lights. Took me 10 weeks last time when I needed any (and a premium for shipping from UK - before Brexit). My steering wheel "AC" center cap from USA made a detour via Germany. Must have cost me R2.000 until I had it ($200). The 16" steering wheel I still had from the 90s. You know how much that costs.

Car is done, gone, history. Pattern (which I took from CCX 3080) also sold. CR chassis drawings, plus extras also gone.

All in all a nail biting, nerve wracking experience due to all the shortcomings in our country.
Biggest compliment I got from a former very high ranking CEO: "Will you work for me?"

Thanks Dom.

Soon I should have the last of my engine parts to do the assembly. Been a mission getting the stuff in SA, especially the FE bits!

I know, I used FE in all my cars. What do you still need? I may have one or other piece.
