Max,

Jay is right. You can operate your vehicle with TOPS (temporary operating permit) until 2010 when you can get registered for good. You will need to renew them every 60 -90 days. Some guys get 60 day permits, some 90. I don't know why some are different. But we do live in Kalifornia. Great climate, horrible government.

You really can't go wrong with a Backdraft unless you buy a trashed used one, and I have not seen even one like that. A few rebuilt from wrecks, but not trashed from abuse.

Ps. I am getting more and more serious about selling mine. It only has 3.5K miles on it and is fully sorted out. But, I want no less than $42K for it or I will keep it.

Black Cobra with a Red Stripe

I have always liked this combo...not sure who owns it, but I like it!

It's not flat black but it will have more of a market.

You need to pay sales tax on the total price of the car...9% now. So $3,600 for a $40K car.

The annual registration is also based on the purchase price. Guessing $350 a year for a $40K car.

Here's a calculator where you can enter the specifics for your zip code.
