Amazing adventure. I have enjoyed the ride. Best of luck with her. Easy shakedown miles till you both get to know each other better.

I know they are Lucas units, used on MGA dash panels, and also some Massey Ferguson tractor dashes (I spent maybe a thousand hours behind the wheel of an MF ....some years ago now).

Wow, Bill, you sure have finished a marathon with a "sprint" to the line. Fantastic job

Cheers!

Took her out again for a bit longer. Runs very strong! Came home, parked, checked the wheels and tires and found this…

I just can’t catch a break

S##@@!

Well, at least it is in an area that can be repaired. It's not like you are going to be sliding sideways through a corner at 120mph...right Bill?

Good luck Bill, at least it did run nice and strong.

Jim

The Billboards are rotting out in the sidewall. Until I can afford new tires (not Billboards), I’ve moved it to the side and parked my new car in the empty space

Bummer

A slow end to a hot project.

Bill, please please please get good Cobra tires. Regular car tires like BFG's are too hard for Cobras and with power scary.... Not looking to poke anybody on this .....

HP, short wheelbase = need to stick.

Ordered my Trigo 289 wheels and unpolished spinners today. Should have them in about two weeks. Then get some new radial tires, either Cooper or BFGoodrich, mount the white letters inward, paint them black, grind off the lettering on the outside, and use GOODYEAR billboard stencils to create the billboard look.

Bill

Please
Dont get BFG's, too hard for these cars. Used to have them on my old CCX, dangerous at best. They have the grip of silicone, laid rubber at every stoplight as they need a bigger car.
Heard Cooper's Cobra's are ok, never had them myself.

Remember BFG's are std cheap tire for muscle cars which are bigger and heavier vehicles.
A light-short wheelbase car tire is better off with soft and sticky.
Try to get soft, also remember you dont need 295 in rear if its a good tire. A 289 body is narrower than a 427 body thus smaller tire ok.
I run the BB fronts on my rear, they work great, Powercushion up front.
Dont overlook the Polyglass or vintage tires by Kelsey.
https://www.kelseytire.com/performance-series/

Get a tire with a low mileage rating as its softer.
Remember what ages these car tires is the heat cycles, they will harden before they wear out most likely.

Always look for the best grip so you dont end up in a bush.....

Bill, I don't believe the FIA's ran Billboard tires. Just sayin.

Bill I ran Mickey Thompson S/T’s, 245’s on the front and 295’s on the rear. Whitewalls were on the inside and I used the Tredwear Lettering. It looked great! Overall I was very happy with the Mickey’s.

I'm surprised no one has tried these. D.O.T. Old school tube type, soft tread and good price. I emailed them to see if they can sipe and add rain grooves. Company used to be Mcreary.

Are there any problems with running drag radials on all 4 wheels on the street?
