I bought my car used, which means I didn't get to experience the joy - and pain - of building it, but I wanted to have a thread to post pictures and document the changes I've made to the car, all in one place. So here goes.

The interior when I got it was race-car bare, which is just what the original builder wanted.

But I wanted to dress it up a bit, so I moved the Raydots to the windshield pillars and added a street rearview mirror. I also installed the grab handle that came with the car, as well as the tonneau pins. The "AC" steering wheel emblem I found on eBay, and I also got sun visors and wind wings for the car. The finishing touches were the dash plaque and the shift knob.

After reading on these forums about other ERA owners painting their spare tire trays black, I decided to do that as well. I also got a California-retro license plate for the car, and installed the bungee-cord holders.

When dressing up the interior, I also put on the hood and trunk Cobra emblems, and the "Powered by Ford" fender badges.

Most recently, I decided to paint the footboxes black. This wouldn't be an issue for a street-interior with black carpet, but with the bare interior it looks completely different.

Also painted and installed the front brake scoops that came with the car.

Awesome!

Nice work! Even though you did not build the car, you put a lot of work into the re-building of it. Like the colors and what you have done.
|
Beautiful car and tasteful modifications. Thanks for sharing.

Legendary Shelby Team Driver Allen Grant came to the South OC Cars & Coffee in San Clemente today and was kind enough to compliment the car and take some photos. That's Allen on the left.

That's a nice compliment to receive. You did an excellent job on the car. Now put some miles on it and make everyone jealous. ;)
|
The car was featured in the first video for a new group doing Cars & Coffee Stories.

Great video - I can tell how fun and easy it would be to talk to you from this segment. Car looks great. The only thing I'll add is that you really should replace those original tires (:
