Default County Corvette's Cobra Build Log - Lots of Pictures!

Hey Guys!

I figured some of you would enjoy some information and pictures of a Cobra Kit Car we have been rebuilding here at our shop in West Chester Pa.

This car was originally built in 1983 and it came to our shop for a tune up due to the fact that it was not running right. The car had a Big Block Chevy 396 with a Turbo 400 Automatic Trans.

The chassis has Jaguar front and rear suspension - all chromed. It had obviously deteriorated throughout the years and after talking it over with the customer we decided to proceed with a full restoration.

This included a full rebuild of the front and rear suspension, all new brakes, and a new steering column.

The motor is a 2008 Corvette LS2 that has been blueprinted with head work, a cam, and a custom tune. Custom headers were fabricated and installed onto the original Cobra side pipes. We also installed it with new engine mounts. The transmission is a beefed up 4L60E. The drive shaft was shortened and a new shifter was modified.

Other goodies included a new custom built aluminum radiator, custom shroud and electric fan. New gauges were installed in the original dash. Car was rewired front to back. Fuel tank was modified with sump for electric pump. An entirely new fuel system was installed.

The car will be coming back apart in the next week or two for paint.

Although we primarily specialize in Corvettes of all years - we also take on a wide array of other projects. If you are interested in any work, or are in the area - please stop by the shop to take a tour. I promise you wont be disappointed. You can also feel free to visit http://countycorvette.com

Stay Tuned for updates...

James
