As for Picasso...

Paul,

At least you are rolling with the punches. But just check to make sure they did not freeze part of Picasso.

You will figure out what you have. If you do decide to just scrap it thought please send to me so that I may destroy it for you. :D

Post some pictures though -- I like to look at Cobras. Post pictures of your wife also. This group can help you with getting you out of the doghouse once we see pictures and make our assessments.

Good come back Paul.

Who to believe? Well, if it sounds to good to be true,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I believe the Cobras that C.S. claimed were built from "parts left over" in the warehouse can NEVER be licensed in Calif. As I understand, it was part of the "deal" that was made with the DMV (and the prosecutors office?). Surprisingly they still seem to command a high price in the market.

As to a CSX4000 that "really" was built with a large number of "original" parts (whatever THAT means and HOW to prove it is another question) I guess it would sell for more than a regular CSX4000.

And here I was just about ready to cancel my last Dramamine order :)

DV..I'd give you my opinion, but no one wants it anyway!

OKAY BACK

JUST RETURNED FROM PAUL'S PLACE AND LOOKING AT CSX4289. NICE CAR AND PAUL OS A NICE YOUNG MAN. I BELIEVE THAT PAUL SIMPLY POSTED WHAT HE WAS TOLD ABOUT THE CAR. WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR HIM TO COME DOWNSTAIRS, ANOTHER SALESMAN WALKED BY AND STATED "YEP THAT'S A REAL DEAL COBRA"(DON'T EVEN GO THERE GUYS:) "

CSX4289 IS GUARDSMAN BLUE WITH WIMBLEDON WHITE AND HAS A LITTLE OVER 1,200 MILES ON HER. TRUNK STILL HAS THE BLUE PLASTIC COVERING ON IT.

INTERESTING NOTE THAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE INNER FENDER WELL, THE NUMBER 4283 IS WRITTEN IN BLACK MARKER. MYBE A BODY SWAP AT SAI?

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT PAUL HAD NO FRAUD MOTIVES IN THIS BUT SHOULD HAVE DONE HIS DUE DILLIGENCE A LITTLE MORE.

HE ALSO ASKED WHAT I THOUGHT THE CAR SHOULD SELL FOR AND WE WERE CLOSE. THEY WILL SELL THE CAR FOR 127K.

ALL IN ALL A GOOD MORNING.

JAY

paul@lineback 01-23-2004 10:38 AM

As far as my wife gos She is an original 65
and much better looking
At this ponit I think i could get more for her than the car.
lol.
:)

Excaliber 01-23-2004 10:42 AM

CSX4000 series car for 127K? Gotta be a GREAT build with all the "right stuff". Sounds a bit on the high side to me.......

Life was getting kind of dull. Now here's a story right out of Michael Jackson or J Lo and that Ben whatsisname... Entertainment Tonight meets Carrol Shelby

jmkkingpin 01-23-2004 12:27 PM

TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

I saw a show on american muscle car last week about cobras they said Shelby made just over 1000 original cobras thus all others are continuation cars or replicas end of story !

Doug I 01-23-2004 12:29 PM

I'm just glad this thread didn't go as far south as it could have. I think it helped a lot that Paul could roll with the punches and keep everything in context, and not take it personally.

I'd really hate to be the guy that told Paul the story.

Thanks to Jay (again - remember the 'I won this Cobra' thread) who make the effort and took the time to see first hand what was being talked about and pass on his knowledge and experience.

Is DownTown still around the forum?

regards

Hello Paul,

Sorry guys been out of town and missed a lot of this thread...simply responded before I read about the visit.....Paul good luck with your efforts to sell CSX 4289.

Every Cobra that is available today with the 427 body style is a replica of the 260 +/- cobras that were built in the mid 60's equipped with the 427 FE big block engines. The 427 equipped cars carried a serial number starting with CSX3xxx the replica built by Shelby American today carries a serial number starting with CSX4xxx these new replicas from Shelby come with either a fiberglass or Aliuminum body and replicate the original cars. I own CSX4264, fibergalss body and proud of it, I have also owned a Shell Valley, Superformance and Unique replica and pround of those cars also.........the reality is I love driving these cars and seeing them in the garage pleases me.

At the end of the day.......we all indulge ourselves the way that pleases us as individuals.

The remainder of the Cobras built in the 60's were small block equipped, completely different suspesion, frame, body style and carried a serial number starting with CSX2xxx.

There have been many attempts over the years to resurrect, reconstruct, fabricate an original Cobra and that is why you seeing a great deal of skepticism in response to your posting.

I am taking the high road here and giving you the benefit of the doubt . %/ %/

Best Regards,

Tony R.
