How do I delete a thread that I started

Help!!!

How do I delete a thread that I started? I am trying to delete my "for sale" post and it won't let me. It says that I don't have administer priveleges or something like that.

I have emailed this question to Brent but I have not received and answer yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See the icon next to your user name? Know what it's missing? The little gold trophy icon, like next to my user icon.

THAT little gold trophy indicates you contributed dollars during the annual fund raiser for Club Cobra.

It ALSO means you have "special powers" on the Club that other mere mortal members do not!

For instance I can DELETE this post, but you can only EDIT yours.

You'll need a moderator to move or delete a thread.

Sorry for the late response...As usual, I am swamped. It's dead. :)

clayfoushee 03-26-2004 01:20 PM

Ernie,

Now I know what special powers means....didn't know that, but my computer won't let me see the little gold cups or gallery icons for that matter. Norton perceives them as a threat.

Excaliber 03-26-2004 01:22 PM

Aw shucks,,,,,, I gave away the secret to my special powers. I feel so naked now. :D

Thanks Brent!

Thanks for deleting my post. I really appreciate it.

Lowell W 03-26-2004 01:59 PM

OK: I can't see the gold cups either. Usedta could but now I can't. I had one, too, but I thought perhaps they had all been deleted in preparation for this year's fundraising effort. What do I know?

Clay: How do you know it's Norton that's doing it and that Norton perceives it as a threat? What can I do to be able to see the little suckers? What else am I missing? I hate frickin' computers...

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Excaliber 03-26-2004 02:15 PM

Lowell you got a nice little trophy by your name, looking good man! Your free to cruise around the MEMBERS only areas of the board (assuming you can SEE them)!

Special powers rule!

I CAN'T SEE...I CAN'T SEE....

How can I un-Norton this thing so I can see stuff???

Tom T. 03-26-2004 04:58 PM

Lowell, I have special powers to see your evidence of special powers next to your name, namely, the gold cup. It's there buddy, really.

Ernie,

See the little gold cup icon next to my name ? Well most of the time I can delete just a post such as this, but if I start a new one and try to delete it I get the refusal to let me delete it notice. I have had to ask Ron (CW) to delete the last two test posts that I made in the lounge. I can delete this post ok. Brent was kind enough to start a test forum where I can do my testing and it doesn't show up and I don't have to ask someone to go delete my practice picture posting.
By the way, with your special powers why does your cup still say 2002? :3DSMILE:

Ron **) :3DSMILE:

hey,littlecobra 03-26-2004 06:07 PM

they ALL say 2002

casaleenie 03-26-2004 06:54 PM

Ernie,

Last time I checked you can completely remove a posting by editing... You have to leave at least a period .... but it can be done... A thread is another matter....

Excaliber 03-26-2004 06:58 PM

Thats the key, "mortals" have to leave a " . " at minimum!

Contributors can select "Delete" and then "Delete Now" and make it totally disappear. I've done it several times, you know, for when you put your foot in your mouth! eh eh

Hey Ernie,

How and when can we contribute to the "annual fund raiser"? The smell of money woths all around me...

Well Brent is FAR to humble to EVER ask for donations! SO, last year (when was that anyway?) Turk started the ball rolling when Brent needed a motor for his "unknown" replica.

It just wouldn't do having Brent of all people without a Cobra ride!

I have no idea when or if it will come around again. Don't miss it if it does! It's worth the investment (besides, CC is the coolest site on the Web and you guys know it)! That oughta be worth something!

What I am thinking this year is if it does happen, the money is being donated to Jenny or something like that.

Lowell W 03-26-2004 09:52 PM

OK, I used the computer in our office at work and I was able to see the icons. Computer at home: nope. WTF? Is there something SIMPLE I can do to fix this? I do have Web Assistant and Norton Antivirus icons at the top of my screen.

Brent, Turk, Ernie:

Wasn't it about this time last year that fundraising began on Brent's behalf? I visit this site almost daily and often several times in a day for information and entertainment and would be delighted to make a contribution again. Brent could do what he wanted with the money; on the other hand, it's hard to imagine a stainless Kirkham with a 390...

Brent, I think you've earned it.

Lowell

Turk 03-26-2004 10:24 PM

I deliberately sat back and let someone else take the ball and run with it this time around. I would be glad to do it again, but others felt they may want to give it a try.

Either way, whether I do it, or someone else does it, I do have a comment to make.

While that is very generous of Brent to suggest Jenny, I am not in favor of that.

1-Yes, Brent is way too modest and humble to accept what had been done in the past on his behalf.
2-It has always been like pulling teeth to get him to even give the nod to me to go ahead.
3-Those attending DVSFI, II, III and I am sure IV have and will take good care of Jenny. They have in the past.
4-This is NOT about Jenny, and shouldn't become one. Many in here never went to Spring Fling, nor ever will.
5-This is about the membership on CC and the guy who put it together for us all to have fun in here.
6-If Brent wants to give his money to any charity that is his business. However I will not spearhead THAT drive. Many in Ohio will do plenty to donate to a cause that we all recognize.
7-This is and should be about us and Brent. He has a new car, without a motor. I am sure he could use our assistance.

So, now that I have said my piece, you guys tell the rest of us, what you want to do.

Dejavu all over again?
