You mention driver and passenger safety as the reason for a full-width rollbar. Why is the rollbar (in the picture of your post) so short, even a midget would be decapitated?

Which is that you have been around Club Cobra for some time, and you seem to have a vendetta against WCC. You have been shot down with logical answers, and now you are back with a new handle. Many of us here are savvy chatters and web people, and your new name but the same old behavior is easy to spot.

Not here to step on toes. But Vern claims safety is the reason why they have a full width rollbar. The picture Vern supplied is of a rollbar too short to be of any functional use whatsoever.

This is a forum for sharing of information, the facts stated in this post are not being "shot down with logical answers" as one very defensive west coast soon-to-be-owner is claiming How tall are you?

The car you see in the photo above is my personal car. I shortened the roll bar by 6" and the top of my head is approx 2-3" higher than the roll bar. My choice.
Doing more reseach will tell you that we sit in our cars not half way out like the original or most other kits today. You do not look over the top of the windshield and the top of the fiberglass (the body) right behind the driver is as high as the top of your shoulders and that means only your neck and head stick out of the car.
If you have ever been involved with road or circle track racing or have ever rolled a car, you would have determined that you can not sit perfectly straight up when your car is in the process of rolling. Years ago I have raced stock cars, have rolled while doing so and I did not sit up straight when my car (63 chev) was rolling over. This happened to me at over 100mph.
We provide all kits or finished cars with the full heighth roll bars, 6" higher than mine.

Vern just pointed out that his rollbar (as seen above) was lowered 6" below production height so as to make it only 3" below the top of his head. That explains the picture. I have alrady said all I care to about west coast "cobras" (unless someone else asks specific questions, not "how do you feel about...")

As several of you have pointed out, Mr.fixit is aeroace, that is correct. For what reason I do not know, the aeroace logon/password no longer works? Sent one request for help to the site provider, but no response. Easy enough to fix this problem myself I figured so I created a new screename. I am not searching for a new identity, as I have never posted anything that I wouldn't standby today. I visit this site only to share information with less knowledgeable cobra enthusiasts. In the past several years I have met so many dissatisfied cobra owners who in hindsight would have realized ownership of their "dreamcar" in a totally different way than they originally choose. A little shopping around, asking questions (to people who aren't selling you anything) and looking at and driving different manufacturers cars could have prevented most of their mistakes. I have no personal grudges with anyone in the industry, and would prefer to keep it that way. However, I may and will disagree with some of you at many times.

I represent nobody other than myself. My opinions are representative of only my opinion which was gained working over thirteen years as a clasic car restoration mechanic and four years as a professional cobra mechanic. Nor do my opinions represent those of any former or current employer. But as of five months ago, most likely to your satisfaction, I left the field and no longer work in the kit car / replica industry. I now repair much more complicated cnc machinery used for manufacturing electronic circuit boards.

Martin P mansfield, you have never posted any technical advice to any club cobra members other than chevy crate motor prices. You are also paying someone else to assemble your kit car. How much of an expert are you on the subject of kit car construction to call me full of sh_t ? This is an information exchange forum, not the place to choose to insult someone because you disagree with their opinion on the particular brand of kit car.

Did you get your answer? You did, and it made you look ReAlLy dumb, since you could not even privately e-mail Vern at West Coast and ask him the question first!

I Gotta tell you, your supposed work history story does not impress me, (I was a degreed computer R & D technician for many years, including work at Intel corp., and many guys here at Club Cobra are very high tech too. We are not stupid, and your patronizing is repugnant)

I researched cobras for over a year, including personal inspections of several other makes of cobra, coming to the clear conclusion that the West Coast was the best cobra for ME. I also like several other more original makes of cobra, and the final contestants for my buck were all good cars.

Bottom line: If you don't like the WCC, shug off bud :p

I really don't see why anyone has to knock anyone else's car unless there is a known defect or safety problem with the brand. I know that more people spend time telling mewhat is wrong with mine than tell me they like it but I just tell them to build theirs to suite themselves. If a person is happy with his or her car then that is what counts. My full width roll bar is just even with the top of my helmet but I figure if I ever roll the car and it is that bad I won't be to concerned about the roll bar or anything else at that point. Just build the car you like and the way you want it and don't pay attention to the I would have done it this way bunch. You will never please all the people so please yourself. I think every brand has it's good points and weak points and none of them are worse than the first 75 original ones. They were DANGEROUS but we were to young to have any logic then and they did go fast.

I have made no nasty or unfactual attacks on any product. I gave my opinion of the originality of one particular manufacturer, when a post was made asking if anyone had any experience with that particular manufacturer (which I do). The manufacturer responded by touting the safety of their full width rollbar but provided a picture of a totally non-functional rollbar and later explained how that car differs from the rest of the product line. Small oversight on the manufactureer's part to display a car which does not accurately represent his product line.

You have the right to disagree but to respond with personal insults towards those with whom you disagree is silly. You also claim that "my unfactual and nasty comments betray my intent." I have nothing to gain or lose from the kit car industry. I do however have much experience, and am willing to share it. I have no idea who "toivo" is, but aeroace and Mr.fixit have all the same profile information, so I am obviously not trying to fool anyone. You repeatedly question my knowledge and experience in the car industry, but you only claim to be a customer waiting for someone else to build your car. But I guess that gives you the right to trell other people whose opinions differs from yours to "shut the f^ck up".

It was Searanch that told you to "FVCK off", and if you keep the nasty little unfactual and biased attacks up, I bet others will tell you the same.

Opinions are like, you guessed it, everyone has one, and Club Cobra also has trolls with axes to grind. I recommend everyone take this guy's "advice" with a big grain of salt, he is BIASED, without due cause. (I am willing to bet it is something personal)

Personally, I am putting MrFigit on *Ignore*. Anyone with this much of a blatant vendetta against a perfectly cool cobra make, is not someone I want mechanical advice from. :rolleyes:

I personally like the West Coast. It is not built to be an authintic replica like the ERA, but it is a cool hot rod. While not my choice, it is cool. I only hope people don't flame for my preferences.

Support one another - Don't tear each other apart! All these cars are cool in their own way.

I like any Cobra or replica out there--some more than others. Some guys rides are absolute tributes to their skills as builders, some well%/ , BUT they are still a Cobra. I don't care if the car has a different "nose"(SPF)or if it is exactly like one that rolled out of Shelby in the '60's--They all turn heads wherever they go and tend to gather a crowd, and they are all fast, fun and something to be proud of.
I didn't want a Vette, Boxer, or Viper I wanted a Cobra.

...I would separate MR FIXIT, AEROACE from the other examples.
