Superformance
Hey guys I'm beginning my research on the various kits out there and I keep finding more kits than I thought were made. Right now I'm leaning toward a Superformance. I do know that I want a turn key minus. My question is this, will Superformance paint the car any color or do I have to pick one of theirs? I have a color/stripe combo in mind and I was just wondering if they will work with me. If not can I just buy the car in primer ?
|
I'd check out ERA if I were you. They can build you anything up to a turkney car. www.erareplicas.com. If you live around CT you should go check out the factory. Check out the FIA too.:D
|
They will paint the car any color you specify. Custom colors are an extra charge but the quality is great:) Also you will have your rolling chassis in about 4 - 5 months versus 18 months.
|
Thanks a lot for the replies.:D
|
I agree with Chad, all you need is a paint code, a down payment and you will be driving your Superformance in 2002 instead of 2003. Just my opinion anyway!! BTW, the paint on the SPF's is incredible!!!

can't go wrong with SPF.
Yes they will paint to your specs. when I was @ Dynamic last Christmas a guy took delivery of a blue body with purple stripes...he was all in a come over it...to each their own. The dealers are great and very flexible. Good luck. Jeff #186 |
very impressed
I was fortunate enough to see, touch, feel, and cruise in a Superformance last month and I cant tell you absolutely totally positively unreal the experience was. No squeeks, no rattles, ubsurdly fast, and perfect to look at. Never seen anything like it. Just a bit of heaven. The sound, the look, the feel, the doors, the hood, the trunk, the windshield wipers, the seats, the shifter, the e-brake EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. I'll stop now. Good luck !

Hey Dave......
Did you ever "hook-up" with Gordon (Snakeeyes) and check out SPF 1049??
|
Not yet,
Not yet Mike but I cant wait. The Titaniums I have seen are stunning, and I am leaning closely to that color for my car. It is a dark, yet cutting look thats easy on the eyes but as bold as a concrete wall, I love em. Hopefully in the next week or so I can get down to Snake eyes and see his car but I need to do it on the trip to Conneticut to view just one more manufacture to give everybody a faif shake in this deal.

Yo...Dave....
You think SPF Titanium is good lookin'? You should see it with royal blue stripes...! Out-freakin'-standin'...!
My SPF, #770 is Guardsman Blue w/ Wimbledon White stripes since I like a more original look. But we looked at a titanium car at the Olthoff's in September of '00 when Ron and I ordered our cars. Ron was torn between a Silver w/ Royal Blue stripes, and a Titanium car with Black Stripes. He settled on the Silver (#723). But if the Titanium car had Royal Blue stripes, it would have been no contest for Ron... And, yes, they'll paint them any color you desire. All you got to have is a paint code, or even just a color chip. They're using PPG paints now, so it's pretty easy to check out what's available at your nearest automotive paint and supply shop. I'm not sure, but I don't think they used to charge for custom colors...they might now, as my information is a little over a year old. Good luck...SPF is a fine choice....GREAT car....superb engineering....excellent handling...good power train choices...fantastic dealer support. You've already hit upon some of the highpoints with no squeeks or rattles, everything fits like it's supposed to, etc. etc. etc. Count me as a very happy Superformance customer. Attached is a pic of my car the day after it was delivered... |
You nailed it Freddie !
Unreal car man. I have talked to several people that took from dealer stock because it was too hard trying to pick a color from thousands of miles away . The two I saw very close up is RI made my heart a flutter because like I said one was blue w/ stripes, one was titanium w/ no stripes, and the bumber package and I would have taken either one !!! Or both - Roughly $106,000 !!! Your color is just another on the long list that looks absolutely perfect. Dealer stock is the way to go for me, because my mind is not made up easily and they ALL LOOK SO GOOD ! Awesome car, love the stripes Freddie. When I get mine and have it for a bit, I am cruising down the ENTIRE EAST COAST . The closer to the ocean, the better. Maybe I could finally meet some of you folks that have been such a huge source of information and help to me. No races though - I hear those Tenn. troopers dont take it lightly ! :D

MIKE:
glad to hear you chime in on Dave looking at my car...hope you had a good time with your car this fall...maybe WE can hook-up sometime this coming spring or summer. managed to put about 2200 miles on #1049 before retiring to the garage for the winter...maybe i'll get a couple of more drives if we can get back the temps. that we had a week ago. be well ...i'll give you a call sometime in the next few weeks. |
Just bought my SPF yesterday from the Olthoff's in Titanum with no stripe, they had one with a black stripe in stock as well (someone bought it and ordered a 460 for it while I was there). I think the stripe makes the car look a little more narrow. They did say the blue stripe is very good looking but I am going with a little more conservative (oxymoron) look. I know they have another titanium with no stipe in stock if you have not already ordered one.
Good Luck Chas |
The current wait for a painted car is around 8-9 months. We've supplemented our old (sole) painter with another local company, so the wait is less, and the harried look on his face has disipated a bit. %/

Mr. Putnam,
We ordered our kit back in early September for a painted 427. I was originally told a one year wait. Is that still true? My dad figured with the economy, some people may have dropped out. |
More data
Fordracer,
I have had Superformance 992 since 2/01. Put 5000 miles on it in a little less than a year. Yes, they have many more paints available than the "website standards" you may have seen. The dealer you are talking to can help you on that. Hope this helps!! Good Luck! Great Asp  |
Authenticy
I've got another question for you SPFguys! How authentic is the Superformance? Were there any tests done in which they measured the body up to the original standards? In other words, does it look right? It does to me, but some people question the shape...
And how safe is it? They don't have any side impact bars??? Jordy |
Jordy,
I've been told by my Superformance dealer that SPF in South Africa actually makes the aluminum bodies for AC Cars in the U.K.. If this is true then they are one and the same, absolutely dimensionally correct. ... Gary |
Jordy - the SA factory also makes the CRS "carbon-fibre" cars for AC cars, so I can't see how their shape is likely to be too far out.
|
Hi!
Hi Wilf!
Are you in the US right now? At the Double Venom event or something else? I could be mistaken, but I thought you were going out on a little holiday in the States! Just wondering.... Jordy ps.: sorry for the off topic question! Just chatting... |
