BIB,

Today is the day. Did you get it yet ? Really looking forward to pictures. In this length of time maybe you can register is as a historical vehicle. And the saga continues.

Ron:) :) :) :) :)

Any news?

So what's the verdict? Is she ready to go yet?%/

Back in Black 01-17-2003 10:29 AM

Here's the latest in the saga:

I just got off the phone with Vern Redel. He is nearly finished with the final interior details, maybe 4 to 8 hours labor left... the mechanics are done and the car will be started again today with the new (temporary) demon carb (was started some months ago with another carb) His delivery truck is in the shop and is slated to be roadworthy by Monday or Tuesday, and he will be well done with my car by then.

The only reason I have not arrainged other/sooner delivery, is that the earliest date I could get a trucking service there to pick it up is the 27th of January... this is my backup plan if next Tuesday does not see Vern and my cobra on the road to my residence. Vern has agreed to this and would ride out with the delivery service.. I have a 3 to 4 hour inspection and road test agenda for the car, upon delivery, and before final payment is made. I will keep you all posted ! ;)

Anyone else have an odd feeling about BiB getting his car?

Sort of like a "Hell Freezing over" type deal. End of the book....

I hope it's all you wanted to be.

BIB,

Really gald the car is about to come home. I hope that it is everything you want it to be and I am going to miss the running commentary on it as you are becoming a legend on the site. Pictures please as soon as possible.

Is it on the road? Best of luck!

HIQ 01-21-2003 12:57 PM

Any word?

bmercer 01-21-2003 01:09 PM

Yeah BinB, as your car is coming from my end of the continent I'm really curious as well. Good luck!

Back in Black 01-21-2003 01:32 PM

Update !

My car is finished, minus a bit of final soft top work (an hour or less) and starting her again, and alignment of the front end... she is supposed to be on the road in a trailer by tommorrow, (Wednesday the 22nd) if Vern's delivery truck is outa the shop as planned. If not, then I have contingency plans ready for delivery. Should be more news very soon ! :MECOOL:

My fingers are crossed for you. . .

Ron61 01-21-2003 02:26 PM

BIB,

I will be watching and hoping to see your post tomorrow that the car is indeed on it's way. Man you have a lot more patience than I do. Here's hoping.

Ron :) :D :LOL: **)

Just spoke with Vern Redel. The car is almost finished, but regardless of that, if the car is not on the road by tonite, (finished or not) my backup plan goes into effect.... have another classic car delivery service that can be there (Ontario) within 48 hours to pick up the car and Vern, for the delivery. Nothing is going to delay me further, from sliding down into that 5 point harness, and hearing my POISSON girl rumble into reptilian life ! :MECOOL:

Re:

Hey Back in Black,

I've seen you refer to your car as a "West Coast Cobra", and as a "Cobrette"... My friend has an extra restored Corvette chassis he is considering using for a Cobrette.

Question:
what is the difference between a West Coast Cobra and a Cobrette? Are they the same somehow? I have no clue after looking at your photo gallery.

Thanks.

Mr.Fixit 01-22-2003 10:47 AM

I was thinking about puting all corvette suspension under my 67 SS 396 chevelle. I could call it a chevette. Emblems are allready available. That would be one bad chevette.

Ron61 01-22-2003 11:25 AM

Fixit,

Why not call it a Corvelle and then wait and see if anyone copies the name so you can sue ? Make up your own badges and you could be the next Shelby.

Current situation

If Vern Redel of West Coast Cobra does not have his truck repaired and back in his possession by quitting time tonite, the very professional and all around good guy Rich Lacey, of Rich's classic transport, will send his brother out to Ontario to pick my car up.. he can make the trip and be here at my home by Sunday... So, I don't have long to wait, either way ! :cool:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
decooney: The "cobrette" was a joke because certain elements here on the club don't think it "qualifies" as a "REAL cobra Replica" (whatever THAT actually is ? ? :confused: )
The West Coast cobra is actually a replica of the Stallion cobra type car of the 1970's, with some improvements.
computerworks 01-22-2003 12:30 PM
...there actually was a replica kit called the "Cobrette"
(BnB - good move on the back-up plan.)
HIQ 01-22-2003 12:58 PM
BnB,
So the car is done and you just have to sort out delivery? If so, you are doing well. Everyone at CC is waiting to see if this guy is being straight with you.
