Honey, see you are from Minnesota like the "engine builder". You another friend of his like Doug Harraty the other "one post wonder"?

Jim Wintz 08-20-2007 02:46 PM

honey,

No cash yet and none insight for awhile.

He is currently spending tiem behind bars, but was ordered to pay everyone back, but have no idea how long that could take if it ever happens, and not sure of any other solutions other then waiting.

But the important thing is he is not out scamming others for their hard earned cash, thats the light at the end of this long dark tunnel.

Jim

Perhaps "Honey" is actually Kent and that's his new prison name.

oh boy

xlr8or 08-20-2007 03:14 PM

His prison name probably starts with a B and end with itch.

One could only hope so...............

Jim; In cases like this one, once they get out of the "big house" , their parole officer will set up a "payment schedule" where they have to pay x number of dollars a month (amount depends on their employment, usually) to the parole officer, he then begins paying back the debt to the people involved, usually pay the money back in the order the people filed a claim against the guy....it may take a while, a long while, but if the officer is doing his job, this guy WILL eventually repay all the folks he scammed that reported it........may take many many years, but it will get done........if he wants to stay out of jail..........

You've gone this far with it, so see it thru to the end............

David

David,

Thanks for the words of encouragement, not much else to do but wait now.
He was sentenced to 46 months and has to pay back approx $200,000.

fsstnotch 08-21-2007 08:03 AM

Wow, having been a mimber here for only a short time, i have never seen this thread! Good job JIM!!!!

So, even after being a no show, he still only has 46mo.???

YOu have all convinced me... I'm buying a crate engine! haha

Excaliber 08-21-2007 10:42 AM

There is ALWAYS some risk in buying an engine, even a crate engine, stuff happens. OK, your risk is reduced with a crate, but it is still there. The only 'fool proof' way I know of is to have the engine built for you using a VERY reputable builder, like KC, Gessford, etc.

fsstnotch 08-21-2007 10:56 AM

I might still build it myself... but I'm afraid of missing a very expensive minute detail!!!!!

This thread amazes me!!! It's great that people go out of their way to let people know. I'm sure this guy would have gotten more people!

Jim Wintz 08-21-2007 11:00 AM

Youre right Excaliber, I ended up going with the Engine Factory. These days when you are checking out stuff someone is selling on the otherside of the states or the world there is always a risk as opposed to purchashing locally like we use to do.

jimw427 02-12-2008 04:25 AM

Hey, quick update, this time with a little bit of great news!!

I actually received a check through the court system from Kent for $374.00, about 7% of what he owes me, but hey its more then I ever thought I would get, just hope they keep showing up every few months.

Just about got my RUCC built, so then I will be able to leave this behind me faster once I get the Cobra running.

vanoochka 02-12-2008 07:58 AM

Jim,

Congratulations on seeing this through to the end and getting at least some satisfaction.

I also bought from the Engine Factory (last year) and couldn't be more satisfied with the transaction and the quality of their product.

Good luck!

Chuck

rumor has it ,he is getting out early and money from the staate.

fastraxsg 06-01-2009 10:01 PM

Must have been some really good behavior to get out in less than a year after a sentence of 46 months...guys I know who got money from the state didn't need a very big wallet to carry it in...
Dumbfounded, another Minnesota guy huh?
Be persistent Jim.

Looks like the State prison system is going to loose a good engine builder.

PANAVIA 06-06-2009 03:06 AM

I think the take-away is this. - deal locally or with a NATIONAL brand through a local vendor/shop.

fsstnotch 06-06-2009 04:18 AM

Jim, Glad to hear you are making some good come of this!

Seagull81 06-06-2009 06:39 AM

I hope you get your money back!

Maybe the hot tip is to have one of the club member's in an area go by the address and check out the shop before we send any money. I would be willing to do that for our members if there was a need in this area. If fact, I checked out a photo processing company here that closed up leaving folks hanging and out of money and film. A little late, but they at least got an answer.

Where did you hear this rumor?

He is getting money from the state, or injured parties are getting money?

dumbfounded, could you tell us more about yourself? Did you buy an engine?

E

This thread was old, why dig it up?

MadDog 06-06-2009 01:59 PM

A man or a companies reputation is everything to me. I do not deal with crooks or bs. It all sound a little fishy to me. MadDog
