Looking for information
There is a friend of mine over in Belguim that is looking at a Contemporary Cobra. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the serial number appears to be CCX-2 4073.
Can anyone give me some ideas as to what he should be looking for when he test drives the car. It has a FE series engine built by Earl Wade racing engines. That is all I know about the drive train. And any ideas on what it would be worth would also be appreciated. Thanks |
Just a good seat of the pants test drive will tell a lot. How does the front suspension and steering feel, no play etc. Does it seem to track OK, not clunking and changing direction under acceleration. These things and the value are affected alot by whether it has coil over front, watts link rear and a bunch of other options/upgrades that it may have come with or had done. These cars as you know are VERY dependant on the standards and knowledge of the builder. A few pics would help a lot.

Is the Cobra already in Belgium or will he have to have it imported? That is another thing to consider in the price range. Pictures would be nice, but actually riding in it and looking it over are still going to be the best gage of what it is worth.

5 or 6 Pin drives or bolt on wheels?

Absolutely beautiful.........Looks like it has aged quite gracefully.

Beautiful car
Wasn't Earl Wade the one who used to be with Dyno Don Nickleson???? If so , it has the right stuff--- |
Looks like a California VIN has been assigned. It's a beautiful BLACK Contemporary. A 428 motor and everything appears to be in the right place. I would also suggest a spirited test drive to make sure nothing shakes, rattles or falls loose.

It looks like it's in pretty good shape alright. The suspension looks like it has had urethane rebushing. Ally kit under hood and in trunk. Pin drive wheels with safety clips.
If that's a SO under the hood I think it's a 50K car. |
John, I should be around all weekend so if it would help you come on up and take a look at mine.... Bob

hi guys ... forgot i was member here :o:3DSMILE:... thanks John for posting my questions here ... and ofcourse thanks for the replys. And yes, our friend John is guilty in making me crazy about a Cobra.... he will never be my wifes best friend :p:LOL:
Now i 'm interested in that car as it has the correct "patine" for what we call a "oldtimer"... and the "racy" engine , which i still have to test drive. That will be for beginning next week. The asking price is 55K euros , the car already in Belgium. As i have heard and seen , you can count that we pay here about the same in euros as we can buy it in the US in dollars . ( transport, taxes, papers, tech inspection etc... ). AND... as they are working against imports !! it's no exception you are waiting a year before you may drive it ... That car i can drive the next day... My neighbour bought a new chevy truck ( the big diesel) and had paper problems for a year .... seen a FGT on Belgium license plates... he also had to fight against our administration for a full year ! Must be horrifying having that car in your garage waiting for some silly papers... So should there be more info on that specific car ... please feel free to comment , good or bad ;) Many thanks.
